First I went to the beach in the morning, I went into the water. Just up to my knees though, I wanted to practice
swinging the coil in the water and digging in the water. I have to say it will take some getting used to. After staring
down for so long at the water, I had vertigo!!! I had to look at some thing on the beach, it was pretty disorienting.
LOL Also, it was pretty tricky trying to dig my target without being able to see my coil, again it will take some getting
used to. LOL

Then at in the afternoon I went to an old park and found my 2nd Indian Head Penny!!! I also found 2 pistol slugs.

The combined take for the day was just $2.36, but I had a blast!!!

The IH is green, the pic doesn't show it very well.

I wasn't finding any deep targets, so I started to after deep iffy targets. Its weird, the park where I hunt has 2 types of dirt. Black super easy to dig dirt, and light brown dirt that is had to dig. I am finding the black dirt is super hard to detect it, I think it is highly mineralized and all of the coins in it bounce around with my ace. My buddy saw that I was getting skunked so he pointed out 2 targets for me with his SE. One he said was probably a wheatie and another was a silver dime. I swept over it and saw the pattern to the bouncing signal. I dug them up and sure enough it was a 1945 wheatie and a 1916s Merc. About 10 min later I got a bouncy signal from penny to zinc to dime, it was maxed out on my depth meter 8+, I dug the plug and at the bottom of the hole was my 1907 IH. About 10 min later it started to pour buckets on us, so we ran to a bathroom to wait out the storm. After that we called it a day.

In the super hard brown dirt I get solid deep signals but not in the super easy to dig black dirt. Any ideas why its easier to detect in the hard compact dirt? Is it mineralization messing with my detector?

The bad thing also in the soft black dirt is that coins sink fast in it. I pulled most of my coins out around 4 to 6 inches. Nothing is worse than getting a 1970 memorial cent at 6 inches. But last week I got a 1925 wheat at 3 to 4 inches in the hard dirt.

Congrats on the nice finds! I like the IH and the airplane! It's a neat toy! :)

God Bless!
