2 weeks of hunting and finally found first Ring

Coinstar

New member
I got my F4 about 2 weeks ago. Been hunting on and off. Finally got my first ring! Problem is don't know if its trash or good. No indicator on the ring what metal it is. It showed as a solid 23 which is Foil. Found it in a park. Was only about 4" down. Junk or not.. It was an exciting find.

Yeah, maybe Bart is right. If there are no markings, though, it is PROBABLY not gold or silver. But COOL ring anyway! I don't know if the F4 ID numbers are similar to the F70, but if they are, then that's below a nickel -- like you said, in the "foil" range, which is where most gold rings (at least smaller ones) should ID. So, you are doing the right things! I have yet to find my first gold ring, but I have found a silver one and a steel one; it's a rush, isn't it!

Rings are always fun to find. No matter what they are made of. Way to go.

2 weeks and you FINALLY found your first ring? Only 2 weeks is darn good my friend! I don't know how long it took me, but it was way more than 2 weeks and I think the first couple were cheap kiddie rings to boot.

Congrats, hope you find many more.

Visually....to me.....it looks like brass/bronze alloy with a laquer finish....however the 'foil' range indicates gold alloy. Interesting.
And a big congrats.........no matter what the metal content.........the find shows skill on your part.

Congrats Coinstar. That's a sweet looking ring.
