Took a walk along an old track during the week, after finding out there are old workings and two old battery's stationed nearby. Got 10km in on foot but the tall grass and rough track stopped my friend and I from going any further. Saw a black pig happily walking along the track until it heard us lol.....the nature was extremely beautiful, I was expecting to see a few snakes along the way but only saw a small one on the way back thankfully. I turned the 70 on at one spot but Nada....the machine handled very well and am looking forward to heading out some more during our winter months.......can life get any better then this? I'm just lovin it! A big hello to all you fellow prospectors out there! I will post some photo's once I get some new batteries for the cam.

G,day Nugget. Mate you must be fitter than this little black duck. I think my limit these days would probably be 10 all up.
Your not wrong. Sometimes just being out there is the cream on top.
I reckon if you need to hike in like that then you will probably end up finding some really good finds. Those battery sites sound promising being so isolated. Coins, relics, left over gold bearing ore. Sounds A1. Good luck when the grass dies down.

Sounds like a trip for a mountain bike or trail bike.
So which sport are you in? I'm a little confused. Was it detecting, or was it bush walking?:stretcher::blowup: Good on ya Nugget. I hope the site works out for you. I had a similar experience at Christmas, while trying to detect a very old and abandoned train station, but that walk although pleasant, was 15km.

lol yea Mick I have a CT Honda 200 which is perfect for trips like that but the two of us would have had a bit of trouble trying to double up on it Lol! Anyway where goin in again but over night so there will be a full day of detecting........this time we will be better prepared.

G,day Mick and Nugget again. Did you guys see the add and report from Jack Lang on the Gold Snoop and how it beats VLFs up to $1600 AUS?
Big claims or what? That puts Terra's, MXTs, Tesoros, Fishers and who knows how many others into that $1600 bracket. Imagine if it did, it would turn the detector world on its head. All the technology in the world from all the leading brands wooped by a $240 AUS machine.
 
Yep big words from a worthy source! He says something about it not having to be ground balanced? Did I read that right? Anyway If it is as good as he says it is we should hear all about it in the coming months. It uses 2x9 volt batteries which is quite surprising. It really does look like a cheap machine but I never judge a book by its cover. I dont know B.T but if its as half as good at what Jack Lang says I will buy one for my lady, maybe it might get her involved......one can only hope Lol. Finds a $1 coin at 9".....thats not bad for a $230 detector. Lets keep in touch on this one mate Lol.

Yeah. It got me quite interested as well. Seems to have a similar set up to a Tracker 4 with a pinpoint function. my biggest concern though, is it looks all the world like a Seben. If it is, I think that the performance will be poor. Also note that he said that it wouldn't find any nuggets smaller than a gram. You guys could tell me how much gold is around that is bigger than a gram, but I got the impression, that most finds would be less than that. I like the weight of it though. Only 1.1kgs. That's as light as they get.
I tried to ring Jack last week to send my thirty back for repair, but his out detecting again. Guess he got gold fever again and had to take his medicine.:lol: By the look of the article he wrote in Gem and Treasure. The medicine may keep him away from work for a while longer. I had to send the Thirty in myself. Hopefully I'll have it back in a week or so and it will be firing on all thrusters for the first time in about 16 months.
I read your latest article this morning before work BT. I really enjoyed it. I think that you might have to go on a retainer soon as a staff member, given the number of articles you write for them:cheers:

I got some proper info on the Snoop and its performance and have to say I am not impressed at all.

I will have to say that I trust the person who told me and reckon they were being 100% honest. Firstly Im not knocking or bagging Jack as I like to read about his gold hunting adventures and have no axe to grind with him at all but with the add reading so glowing I had to find out. After my enquiries to me it is misleading. Here in OZ the top VLFs used for gold in junk are, Terra 70, MXT, Tesoros Eldorado or new Vaquero or Lobo Super Traq, the older Minelab FTs and XTs and the Eureka gold.
The add says it can match or beat machines in and up to the $1600 range on gold 1 to 2 grams. Most of the expensive VLFs. Well I have been told that it cant. So what exactly are these phantom VLFs which it beats? It might beat a couple of the Garrets like the GTA and so on which struggle baddly with mineralisation but to cast such a broad net as the add does over , in my mind, all expensive VLFs is misleading.

I felt that it would be a poor performer. I noticed in the article, that Jack had indicated that a nugget would have to be at least 2 grams before the snoop could find it at any depth. it looks like the best choice for me, will be the 70.

Yes it can and it cant beat similar machines. The machine needs a bit of a tweak to get them going really well. I took all the IC's out and replaced them with sockets and used different brands of TL064 to get a very good machine. I also changed some other components to better ones. Now I have got a very good gold prospecting machine.

Rubbish. I work for a detector shop and we have seen dozens of those junkers. Meters that stick, slipping hand grips, crook coils, you name it. Just sent one back yesterday to the supplier. If I had my choice they would never get through the front door of the shop.
I have tested them out numerous times and they are looser machines full stop. And yes, a couple of modded ones too. Oh yeah, sure they can sound good on non mineralised ground and air tested but put them into a real goldfield enviroment and they are junk. The Whites Prizm 2 flogs it to death and here in Oz it sells for just $360AUD. So claims of it beating machines in the $1000 range is crap. They are what they are, cheap Chinese junk. Im guessing you are plugging a mod job huh?
 
After reading Marco's epic post it was pretty clear that the Snoop his friend was using couldn't deal with the gold fields. And if a Prizm thumps it, nuff said right there. Thanks for the straight info, that way there will be fewer victims of these toys.
