200 Year Old Bird "Whatzit"

Ever neat CC

I'm not totally convinced not being able to find my particular type on the net, but it sure does seem to be a sewing bird. If so, this one would be quite early compared to all I have seen through many searches.

...all those sewing birds are attached to vises, and the two "legs" on yours don't really look like they've been broken off anything. Does that bird stand up nicely on a flat surface? If so, maybe it was just a decortative item or a child's toy or something?

for how the bird was attached. It was obviously just a decorative piece, but for what.

...a pot lid handle? Something for cooking? Hmmmmm.... Wonder if it has anything to do with 4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie?
