2011 in Review

With 4" of snow on the ground it looks like my 2011 hunting is over. This was my first year with the X-terra 305 and I found a lot of stuff and more inportantly had a great time.
Finds for the year:
59 Silver-55 dimes, 3 quarters, 1 1903 Barber Half
167 Wheats
7 Indians (Oldest an 1864)
11 Rings including one gold and 3 silver (rest junk)
Silver bracelet
Several tokens including an Alabama Tax Token in Nebraska

Mostly what I found was a lot of fun getting out in the sunshine and hanging out with new detecting friends.
Thanks NebTrac and Firewxman

I need to tally up my finds but i only started mid November but have to admit i am having a great time.... Lots of clad, bullet casings out in the desert, a 9/16th wrench and a Horseshoe "If that counts"

It's always nice to look back on a successful season, but it's never over! I'll have my chemical hand warmers down in my gloves, if the ground isn't frozen you will see me out there. No better marker on the ground to see if you covered it all than a light covering of snow!

For me, 2 seated dimes, a barber dime, close to a dozen indians, quite a few Mercs, a bunch of wheats, lots of costume jewelery, and quite a few silver rings. My season ends when its 90 degrees and the ground is too hard to dig in, then its only open after it rains.

Sounds like you had a great year Bob. The way I figure it, any year we can be upright and walking, detecting with friends is a great year. Finding those lost treasures is only icing on the cake! We've been getting some of that darn snow around here as well. Keep that darn stuff across the river, will you? Looks like it's about time to do some more research and plan for next year's outings. Again, congrats on the finds. HH Randy

Like hotrod53 says, it's never over! We get a decent amount of snow from time to time here in the winter but between accumulations of snow if we get a decent day, we're out. We were out with hand warmers in our gloves and boots last year in December literally scaling a cliff that led down to an abandoned town.

I didn't find as much silver this year as I did last year but my 2011 Year in Review updated this afternoon after returning from detecting is as follows.

1207 Coins

Notable Finds:
(49) Wheats
(1) Indian
(3) Mercs
(5) Silver Rosies
(1) Silver Quarter
(1) Buffalo
(5) War Nickels
(3) Sliver rings
(1) Silver Heart Pendant
(4) Misc rings
(1) Misc Bracelet

2011 was also good to me as I set new personal highs for amt. of coins found, their total value and amt. of silver found. If all that wasn't good enough, today on what will probably be my final hunt of 2011, had my best day "ever" on coins and it was with the XT-70 and its 10.5" DD MF coil, not the Safari which I have been using for most of this year. Had forgotten just how hard the XT-70 hits on coins and how accurate its TID readings are.
