Hi Everyone,
I am currently in the middle of arranging one of the biggest social - metal detector gatherings to be held in this part of the woods. This event will take place at the Mookerawa State Recreation Park located near Stuart Town in central NSW, Australia. The event will be held over the weekend of the 2nd & 3rd of November 2012.
The Ranger & staff at Mookerawa SRA have given us their blessings & said that they will bend over backwards to help us. They have even offered to fence off a large portion of the Golf Club so that we can have our own private area. This just happens to be within 50 metres of some of the best Gold Detecting areas of NSW. Located a couple of hundred metres further on, are the backwaters of Burrendond Dam - once again, one of the biggest waterways in NSW. I mention this because you can prospect for Gold during the day & catch a large variety of fish for tea.
This gathering is the "brainchild" of Goanna Metal Detectors located in Greta near Newcastle in NSW & as such, they will be the ONLY gold detecting shop able to sell products like metal detectors & related implements during this weekend at this location. Any other detecting shop or suppliers are more than welcome to come & advertise their products by way of catelogues & brochures buy NO SELLING of products will be tolerated & offenders will be removed from the area. I'm sure everyone can appreciate the time, expense & effort put into arranging this get together for everyone & understand this rule. Plans are already in the making that the next gathering - if this one is successful, to allow other shops to have a stand for their wares.
Talks are currently underway with the VRA Rescue services to have one of the crew, to come & give us a talk on the dangers ect on playing in & around old mines - in particular the 1800s rule about backfilling their mines, how this was done & the problems that now exist.
The Dubbo 4WD club has been asked to come & show us some of the dangers involved when winching vehicles out of bogs or other places that we "almost made it" type of situations.
One of the top First Aid instructors has been invited to "teach" us the latest treatment for snake bites as November is when the snakes are really getting active & knowing what to do can help save someone's life. Hypo & Hyperthermia will also be covered.
Talks are also taking place with a high profile Politician who has an active interest in what we are doing as a hobby & is interested to hear our thoughts on what he can do to help us.(For security reasons, this persons name & details will be kept strickly confidentual.)

This invitation goes out to ALL persons who have an interest in metal detecting including gold panning, 4WDers, Fisherman or any person who just likes to have a social camping trip.

At the moment, the entry fees to the Mookerawa SRA are $10 per vehicle per day. If you wish to camp, it will be a few dollars more. If you wish to use one of the cabins, the current cost is approx $140 per night (Brand new FIRST CLASS cabins) Stuart Town pub also has accommodation (13kms away) Wellington has several Motels (60kms away) & Orange has heaps of motels. (Approx 70kms away).

To make this weekend a huge success, we need as many people to come as possible & to get some idea as to how many people are coming, we have decided to ask EVERYONE for a $10 registration fee. This fee is to help Bob & Judy with the logistics like toilets & a large donation to the Emergency Services so that they can afford to buy the gear to come & get us if the worst ever happens.

For more details, please contact us at " goannamuster@southernphone.com.au "

Thanks everyone & please send us any suggestions & all will be considered. This is your weekend.
