2016 Silver Coin Finds

I have had my V3i now 3-1/2 years. During 2013 (got V3i at end of June) I only found clad, no silver coins. During 2014, I found 14 silver coins the whole year. 2015 went downhill as I only found 12 silver coins. Then came 2016. During the first 8 months, I found 11 silver coins which included 1 1945D Jefferson war nickel, 5 mercs (found my first merc in May) and 5 silver Roosevelts. The first silver coin was not found until April. Then on Labor day, I found a 1941 Walker to start my good silver run. This was followed by 1 52 Franklin half, 4 Washington quarters, 1 45P Jefferson nickel, 6 Mercs (3 older ones 1918, 1923 and 1929), and 32 Rosies. 56 silver coins for 2016, my strategy change really worked. I did not keep up with the clad total, but I know I probably found over 2500 pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters and I did find a Kennedy half, but not a silver one. Detecting is a really fun thing to do and it is always exciting to dig out that coin, relic or whatever the dirt gives up. Detecting is habitual, the more I detect, the more I want to go again. There has been lots of "dry" days when I found nothing buy crusties (zincolns), but still it is that feeling that you get that the next find may be that 1916D mercury, or that 1914D penny that keeps us going.

Nice collection. It looks like addresses on the coin holders? Are you searching residences where you seek permission, abandoned homes? What is your method? Thanks

I hunt vacant lots, houses that have recently been knocked down and foreclosed houses. A lot of times when i hunted one yard, a neighbor would come over out of curiosity to see what I was doing and after telling him or her that I was hunting for old pennies, they would invite me to hunt their yards. I also offer to find any rings, jewelry or whatever they may have lost for no charge if they let me keep the other stuff I find.

Wow! That's going to be hard to beat!!! Good Strategy.
