Well, today I open wide up came up with this penny and a button that reads "P&R" on the front and "N.T. Lewis & Sons Phil" on the back.

I'm actually excited that I came up with these 2 minor pieces afer finding only nails and foil!

That was 3 Explorers ago. One thing. Never forget the pennies. Gold rings, Tokens Half Reales ETC. all come into play in the penny range. We all learn to hate Zinc pennies but as an Old Fart once told me, dig it all my son, dig it all. Here is an example of what comes in the penny range.

at 10 / variability at 9 / gain at 5 / threshold audible / sen. 28 to 30 and auto. This is for a beginner. Dig all repetables and learn what and where they are. Leave it this way for a month.
I have some guys that will not change it even after that because it works for them.
My settings are somewhat different but on the same idea.

Is this on the coin setting with only coins checked?

Push the ironmask button and a bar will show under the screen. push the left bottom button till you have it open to 10. Push the ironmask button one more time and never touch it again.
Sit down tonight with your manual and read about the other things I asked you to do. Make those settings tomorrow after you do the iron mask.
Sensitivity can be lowered if gross hairs jump around or the machine is too noisy after you noise cancel. Infact why don't you set your sen. at 22 or 24 to start with.
I am sure you can figure this out. Its only a few settings.
BTW stay out of the other settings you don't need to touch anything other than what I showed you.

OK. I glad to have you talk me through this.

Nice finds DukeObass  That button is a wonderful addition .
Check the web for the manufacture and maybe you will find what it is.
It looks around the Civil War era. Harpy Hunting Grounds,

Savage.

I had the old Explorers on my mind when I gave you those settings. Open the iron mask up to 22. On the old machines it was 10.
Once you have made yourself comfortable with hunting this way. Then you can open iron mask up all the way if you like. That is another set of adjustments that we can get into later. I'm sure there is plenty of help out there when your ready.

Thanks Bob. I really appreciate your time!
