2nd set of headphones looked-up

Fire Fighter 43

While doing the update I got to the headphone part and it asked for the second set of headphones, I have both the WS4 and 5. I said yes and then it asked to turn them on so I did. They locked up and will not respond at all. The remote, 2 coils and WS5's all work great with the update. Anyone have any suggestions?

You might go back and load v3.2 and start over making sure you turn off one headset before you turn on the second one when you load the v4.0

The problem is I can not even turn the second pair off. The screen just shows all the led features on the headset.

Andy told me in class if you update do not do both headphones at the same time. follow the instructions do one then when it asks if you have another set then do the second set of headphones. If you try to update two headphones at the same time you will be sending one of them back to be re programmed.

Unfortunately, that is my understanding as well.

I did not think it was very clear how you turn off the set that upgraded first before turning the second one on, so it did not go smoothly for me. I had to load 4.0 twice onto all my hardware. Seems to be working now.

Glad to hear that worked for you. I hate to have to send things back even though XP has great turn around time.

Hate to say but most likely going back to XP it might be bricked. I could have sworn while doing the update is says turn on only 1 headset at a time or you will brick one of the pairs.

It did say to turn off the 1st pair but it had UP on the display so I wasn't sure what to do and the update on the computer was counting down to turn on the second pair so I did and whola, Totally my mistake. I'll be calling XP this morning. You would think they would have just built in a hard reset similar to a cel phone, oh well at least I have one pair working. Thanks for the help.

UDATE: the headphones have to go all the way back to France to be reset. Don't make that mistake, luckily I have the WS5's and do not use the WS4's that often.

WOW that sucks, but like you said at least you have the WS5s.

Wow that does suck and in my eyes bad customer service, why not send you a pair to use while those are being refurbed? I hate to say it but Garrett would send a pair out while they were refurbing yours

Here is the deal.
True or false,,,is Andy teaching this in his bootcamp as far as don't do?? As far as pairing the headphones.
Next why hasn't Xp changed the programming giving users a prompt (warning) telling them to turn off the first headphone module before turning on the next.

Also,,how about something in the operator's manual about this.
And lastly,,,mistakes can happen,,can a way be devised to override a headphone remote in case this happens,,where a user can undo,,unjam ,etc .

I take it this problem here is not V4 specific,,doesn't matter one way or the other,,,,there are things that can be done to make better or improve.
A truly 21 ST century detector,,,needs 21 st century management.

And since Deus updates are not too frequent,,,it wounldn't hurt for Xp to release a writing citing some keys things/steps, precautions,,,anything peculiar about this new update,,,rather than just putting it up for download.
