2nd warranty claim in 2 months? Omega is sick... :stretcher:

Detectors of today should be able to handle the humidity anywhere. That is not to imply that one should leave a detector outside over night, as an example, but humidity shouldn't be a problem under normal circumstances, I would think, anyway. I, too, keep my detectors inside when not in use. The only time they stay in my vehicle over night is when I'm traveling. When I am not traveling with them, though, I never leave them inside a carry case. Over time, a carry case can attract moisture. HH jim tn

Stupid question but I have to ask. Did your omega come with a warranty card? I don't remember if mine did or not because I can't find it nor do I remember if I filled one out or not.

Mine is now going wacko. I can't ground balance at all. The machine is acting as if every square inch of land has metal in it. I turned it off an on, checked the connection, it's a brand new battery, I took off the coil cover and cleaned out the dirt. I don't know what is happening. It worked fine when I used it last week. What's up with that???

Your invoice/receipt from your dealer is what you use when calling F T to send it back for any repair. They ask the name of the dealer and invoice # and then send a copy of the invoice in with the detector. The pin point button isn't stuck/ broken is it? I got a call from Hector earlier today and mine is in the air as I write this and should be at my door tomorrow. Good luck with yours. Just call the 1-800 number on the back of the manual. fatlife--no, to my knowledge these FT products do not come with a warranty card. jim_tn is right. You have to send them a copy of your invoice/receipt from your authorized dealer when sending in your unit for repair. I personally say call them, and ask for Hector (ext 112) since I "think" he is the go to guy for warranty information.

Sorry to hear that your machine is going bad also. Welcome to the club. .....SIGH..... :stretcher:

Thanks Guys. I do have my invoice. This is just weird though. It was working just fine the last time I used it and now it's not. Before I send it in, I want to put the stock coil back on just to rule out the 11" DD.

That is a good idea!!! When mine started acting up, it was from one target to the next. Pin pointed the one fine, got another hit a few minutes later, pin pointed and it like locked in pin point, just that quickly. I don't know if the pin point is your problem, but when they go down, it does seem to happen quickly. Good luck. HH jim tn

Didn't have a problem pin pointing but would have a problem with my machine just shutting off. I would have to turn it off and then on again to get it to come back on. It seems if the control box twisted a little that is when things would happen.

Now when I turn it on, I can't ground balance at all. If it does work, as soon as I hit a target, it starts going crazy and beeps as though there is metal everywhere and it overloads in some areas.

I have been all over my front yard previously with my detectors and know there is nothing there that would send it into overload. Even the water shut off valve doesn't do it.

I hate to have to send it back in but I think I must and quickly as I have a hunt coming up at the end of September and I want it back in working order by then.

This is a bummer!!

lafatlife---SEND IT IN NOW! if you want to see your detector by the time that you need it in September. FT has had my detector for a week now, and I still have not heard anything about the unit, (good, bad, or ugly) on the status of replacing the LCD screen, or whatever was wrong with the LCD. I too am without my only working unit every day and hope to see a working unit soon also. I know that we have become accustomed to a just throw-it-away, just replace it mentality in our society, but I sure hope they can replace this and I won't have to replace it!

Well after waiting for the rain to finally show up, I went outside and I think I was able to ground balance. I still want to send it in because it shuts off by itself and sometimes I don't realize it and have to go over spots that I already went over but the unit wasn't on.

I will have to call tomorrow and then get it packed up.

Had to bring them in a sit in a corner for a week or two and they cleared up.... Some had the needle rust on them it was so bad..So yea bring em in..or send it back for proofing.... Whites ended up putting a seal around the plastic cover over the screen..

HMMM, well, I still haven't heard any word on the Omega 8000 with the bad screen (2nd warranty claim in just as many weeks). I sent the unit on Saturday, August 14th, and haven't heard from Hector or anyone from First Texas on the status of my unit. Any information would be appreciated. UGHH! This is depressing. :ranting:

Thank you,
bubbadirect

Have you given him a call? I called him a couple of times on my pin point repair and he told me one time it is being fixed and the next time when it was scheduled to be shipped back. He then called me when it was shipped and when I would have it. Give him a call. Good luck. HH jim tn

Maybe I should. I just thought that 1)since they were gonna put a "rush on fixing my unit" 2)send me a prepaid Fedex ground label 3)send me a free t-shirt or hat for my troubles, etc, that I would have heard something by now. I thought I would have heard something either by email, phone calls, findmall.com message, anything like that by now to let me know the status of the unit. I just hate to be a thorn in the side for First Texas. :nono: I don't want to bug them or else they might "jinx" the detector "or do something internally" that I would not know which would cause the unit to lose detecting ability. UGH. I don't want to be the guy that they say..."Oh, I have heard about you..." kind of scenario, and then screw up the unit even more.

I just wanna have a GOOD, WORKING UNIT so I can get back to doing this :detecting:

Bubba,

I responded to your PM today around lunchtime and gave you our toll free number and said you should call Hector directly-I added that if you cant get him you should email your RA # so I could look into and I gave you my direct email address.
Did you get my PM? You didn't email me. Did you try calling Hector? Whats your RA#?

Mike

MIKE--Sorry about that, as I just got home from work and didn't check my PM. Yes, I got it thank you sir. No, I haven't called Hector yet, but will call him right now 9:30pm EST and leave him a message. My RA number is 2997 I believe. :please:

my sentiments exactly gmanlight

O No,,I got a new Omega comming via ups on thurs,,,,,now after seeing this,,,hummmmmm,,,,fingers crossed

Regardless of the particular make or model of anything manufactured you can have an occasional 'glitch.' What's more important is all of those who DON'T have a problem and are enjoying success.

This is not to fault the general theme of this thread because it's important that he get his detector fixed and back to him, and I'm sure he will. However, I think there's been a bit too much chat about one detector repair on Page 3 when many are reporting their positive results since as well as before this.

I have no doubt that bubbadirect will get his detector back and working well, just as I am sure you're going to find the Omega a terrific detector once you get it under control.

PS: When you get your Teknetics feel welcome to ask questions here on this forum or, if you want, e-mail me directly and perhaps I can help. monte@ahrps.net

Nah, don't keep em crossed wpd. I'm just glad that the "problems" that have happened to me (even though I don't like them...no one does) have happened during the warranty period, and ever better, the first year of having this unit. Isn't there a saying that "if a problem is going to happen, it will probably happen in the first year of use." ????

You made a good purchase and stick around and learn from Monte and many others!
