3 / 14K and a Whopper dime!

Bling

New member
good day today found 3 14K's and a whopper dime.LOL!

seems there's alot of trifecta's going on the last few days........
Great stuff you must have been totally thrilled - what's that dime worth? 11 cents (hahaha).....

Congrats Bling, best I have done is two in a day ( I am an amateur ):clapping: As I am new to water detecting, I would appreciate knowing is fresh or salt water, how deep was the water, how deep in the sand and what machine and what settings. I believe you have a Excal. as do I.
I was out in fresh water today about knee to waist deep and snagged a mans gold 14K wedding band with settings on my Excal. at Disc at # 1, Sens at 5 to 6, vol up, thresh at just a slight hum in the head set and Pin Point.
What I am having some difficulty with is using the Nuttall scoop, it is definitely made well, my pinpointing leaves a lot to be desired.

Bling,
Nice rings!

Gerry,
It takes some tries to learn what works for you to get the scoop positioned to dig where you have pinpointed. Some people touch the back of the coil with their toe and put the point of the scoop there and dig. For me, I like to get my the toe of my boot next to the coil and then put the scoop next to my foot by my heel so the point is about at the back of the coil. Then dig. It is always a challenge when the wave interval is in the short 4 second range! Some practice in wet sand helped me visualize what I needed to do in the water.
Cheers,
tvr

yes Jerry i use the Excal ll 10" and have used Excal's for about 8 years.its a little tricky with any DD coil to pinpoint.all these rings came from waste deep water at low tide.i pinpoint with the tip or leading edge of the coil.swing left/right as you back up the coil and when the tone stops the item should be on the tip of your coil.lay a coin on the ground and try it and you will see what i mean.when the tone is at the tip of the coil i set the coil down then move my left foot to the left side of the coil and dig alont the right side of my foot.works good for me.settings on my Excal and GT are always the same...vol..where you like it....disc on set at 0....slight threashold tone...and sen set as high as possible without falsing.you can always run sen higher in dry sand but must back it down some in wet sand or in the water.good luck........
