3 foot or 8 foot cord on coil

Why is it that Tesoro sells an 8 foot cord on their coils? I ordered the new clean sweep coil from a dealer, and specifically asked for the 3 foot cord, and received an 8 foot cord on my new coil. What up pain to have to wrap all that around the shaft! Is there any benefit? Kind of torques me off, but I hate to send it back now.

The longer cable allows you to belt mount the control box on some models,if you are using a big coil then taking the weight of the control box off can reduce the weight by a massive amount.Of course if you only have the short cable then you cannot do it,thats the reason why they offer 2 different lengths of coil cable.

I contacted Tesoro concerning the same issue. I was told if I could not locate a dealer who stocked the coil I wanted, new, they would locate one for me. Luckily for me, I purchased the DD coil I wanted with a short cable from a forum member. He had one unused.
So if your looking, and cant find one, contact Tesoro.

i know of two other people that has happened to. ordered the short cable and got the long one. i'd send it back and make them pay for return shipping. if it is not what you wanted and ordered, why keep it. most want the short cable and of course Tesoro will flood the market with the long cable ones. seems how things go with them lately. all this time people have waited for the new machine. they come out with a reinvented nel coil. then change the color of a few machines that have been on the market for years. it is like the bizzaro world of business. haaha

I have had the same thing happen to far to send it back but of a small dealer who just sent what ever long short after me asking for specifics needless to say they don't get any more of my cash.

I use kellyco and never had a problem not getting what I ordered.

I guess it is kinda like this, I don't like the fact they sent me the 8ft'r, but it is more of a pain in my butt to waste my time and energy sending it back. I won't even bother to smear their name or even let them know they screwed up. In fact, I won't even bother to do business with them anymore. This was my first purchase with this Dealer, and it is my last.
On a positive note, I am very happy with the coil itself. I am planning on giving it a thorough break-in, clad coin hunting this weekend. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a ring or two while I'm at it!

I know I dread the 8 ft cable mine is on a 5.75" coil I hardly ever use it because its a real pain in the cable :punch:

but if you are leaving it on its not so bad its on its on

that's it vote with the pocket book :throw:

but still its probably going to do well for you and the pain will ease !!

The long coil allows you to take the detector box off and hipmount or put in a small backpack and go water hunting almost to chest deep. I've done a lot of water hunting this way.

I breakdown my detectors a lot for transporting and coil changes at times. Instead of wrapping the cable around the pole... I now run my cable straight up the pole then lasso loop and connect to the control box with minimum flex at the connection. Saves time and a lot less flexing of the cable!
