3 Hour Iron Infested Park

Prep1957

New member
Went back to 1820 iron park was able to pull a 1912 D Barber dime and 1917 D Merc out of junk 6X8 is great coil and big broach with huge purple stone along with 1900 IH in great shape and a couple old wheats.3 silvers this year 11 Indian Heads.Broach was about a foot deep.

No could not find any markings,If you want to know the truth I thought it was horse bridle ornament till my wife corrected me on it she says it is complete. A ribbon went around the loop in back and ladies wore it around thier neck just under thier chin It was in my junk pouch I usually throw costume jewelry away I guess I will have to look closer in the future it was full length of lesch digger deep and sounded out loud and clear with 6X8

Nice finds Prep. That 6x8 seems to be working out well for you. Cool keys too! I have found lots of keys just not any skeleton types. What is the lead item? Some kind of bullet?

The lead item is a very big bullit not sure what caliber .I really am liking the 6X8 it has about 1 to 2 inch target seperation been finding all these coins to 8 inches in an area I have hunted for 30 years. It still likes Iron that is why I am finding all these old Iron keys I would have bet both those keys were silver dimes they really sounded sweet. That 17D Merc could just as well been 16D digging a few extra square nails does not bother me that much any more.

What method did you use to clean your finds? You did a nice job!

There is a utube video made by one of the other members of Finds I think do a search under coin cleaning. I use a Stylus Dremel when I first saw it done on video I did not think that would work without damaging coins but I tried it and liked it I do not use it for silver but for everything else the coins look great.I do not use the rock tumbler any more I can clean a coin with no problem in under 30 seconds.I clean most of my Indian Heads and I have been doubling my profit on *bay.I like the steel brush over the brass.I sharpen my all my knifes it does a great job on the lesche it has thousands of uses around the house stays charged long time. Before and After cleaning 7 coins 3 minutes at my slow pace after all speed kills.

Interesting way to clean some of your finds, will have to give it a whirl. I tumble my clad in dish detergent and then touch them up on a plastic scouring pad. It works well except for the ones too far gone..
