3 hours...only ONE keeper but it was a SWEET Seated Quarter/Love Token:surprised:

Well I was in dire need of some hunt time today...and even though we have been pounded with over 3" of water in the last 48 hours...away I went.

My parks are depleted...my friend's parks are depleted...and my friend's friends parks are depleted.:crylol:

It's about time for a road trip in order for me to feel like I have any chance at digging any silver or injuns.

Today though I drove my limit of 60 miles to hit a spot Guvner and I hit few weeks ago.
I just can't travel any farther than that because of my dad's health.

I didn't care if I found anything...and truthfully didn't expect to find anything...so it was a no lose situation for me.

When I got there I saw an older fellow swingin' a detector so I went up and talked to him for a little while.

He soon pointed me to a spot that some trophy keepers have come out of....but also told me that there aren't many...if any signals left...and what
WAS left ...was hidden in the iron and junk.:smoke:

Well.....yippee...'cause that's my favorite type of spot.:)
I can almost always squeek one more goodie or two out of a spot like this that has been missed before.

I may be running out of "hunted out"parks to pound around here...but I do seem to do pretty well concentrating...creeping along...and sifting through the trash and iron nulls at a few of them some distance away.

Well after nearly 3 hours of sloooooow siftin' through the nulls...I finally got a faint warbly hit that came out of the silence.:super:
It sounded good from 2 directions...but nulled from one way:wacko:... while sounding like a sick duck from the other.:puke::rofl:

Another one of those sounds that was very unique...and one I've never heard before:beers:...but it did sound decent from an angle or 2...so I gave it a shot.

After digging a 10" pile of slimey muck...and carefully stacking it into a nice mud tee-pee:)....which I was quite proud of I might add:thumbup:...I ran the probe.

It screamed silver on one side of the plug:clapping:...but nulled on the other side.

I pinpointed the null and out popped out a big clunk of rusty iron as shown in the pic.:)

When I picked it out and showed it to the gentleman I was hunting with...he almost looked relieved to see it was iron.
I promptly told him there was something else in the hole though...and his look of relief turned to one of dismay.:bouncy:

I pinpointed with the probe exactly where the signal was screaming at....and popped out a chunk of muck.

I rubbed just enough to see I had what looked to be a sterling silver medallion or flat button:clapping:...but could also see lumps of metal sticking out of the reverse.

The only comment the gentleman made now was..."I guess I need to slow down and listen"
I know he was happy for me...but just disappointed that he had walked over it many times before.

We talked a little while longer and was a really nice feller'. I might end up hunting with him at some other time when things slow down a little.

I brought the piece and scanned it exactly as it was found...then began rinsing it in water.
I was shocked to see a silver brooch/pin item emerge...and it had initials engraved on it.:super:

I then rinsed the reverse and my mouth flopped open.:surprised: It stayed that way for a few minutes...when I saw the reverse was a Seated quarter.:yikes:

I soon realized I had found a hand made love token which had been crafted out of the quarter...and the pin attachment was completely intact on the back.:clapping:

What a nice day playing in the mud...and while I found only one keeper for my 3 hours of effort...it was a nice one that had been passed over many times before.
The iron had been masking it and...or...no one else was willing to creep and crawl through the nulls.

Take care and thanks for viewing

An unusual and very interesting and unexpected find. Very Good!!!

I do have one question......while sounding like a sick duck from the other. What does a sick duck sound like? :clapping: Good expression.

That is one SWEET FIND Bryce! Even though this was the only keeper for you today, it doesn't matter. You got a Super Rare Seated Quarter Love Token which will look AWESOME in your collection buddy! Congrats on one SWEET FIND and hope you get out again and see what you may uncover next. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.

DUDE AWESOME SEATED PIN :yo: WHAT MAKES ME LAUGH IS YOU HUNTING IN THIS SLOP  BUT YOU MADE IT PAY OFF :surprised:... FOUR THUMBS UP :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: NICE JOB.

That is Awsome... It's the little things that surprise

n/t

Thanks TD.

Actually persistence is my only option:biggrin: If I don't go slow and hit the spots everyone shies away from....I have trouble even coming home with a wheatie anymore.

Definately was Neal...and thanks.

I have to find a few new spots...like private yards or something.

My parks are not coughing up stuff anymore..no matter how hard I try. I still have fun though and that's all that matters to me.

If I find something...great. If I don't...I still had fun.

Thanks Phil.

Slop it was:biggrin:...but you should have seen the cool little Tee-pee I made out of the muck:cheers:

By the way...this makes my THIRD hunt in a row without finding a wheatie. Think it's time we find some new sites??:smoke:

Thanks James.

Do you think I should polish it a little and bring some luster back...or just leave it alone?

It has a bad spot on the last engraved letter which I think a little baking soda would help?

Thanks Stan.

I appreciate your response.

I responded to your pm...but the computer at work was acting a little nutty. If you didn't get my response back...please let me know.

Take care buddy

Thanks Ron:bouncy:

Ever eaten too much food at the county fair and had your stomach make a bunch of strange high pitch/low pitch grumbles??:smoke: :crylol:

That's kinda' what it sounded like:cool:

The sound was strange...I was bored...hunting a former hot spot...the karma was good...I took a chance.

Had enough of a sweet sound though...that it got my interest up enough to dig:thumbup:

Take care buddy...and keep up the great finds you've been making
