30 years ago ... Minelab Excalibur ...

When the Minelab Excalibur came out dealers were saying you could hear the difference between gold and junk.
With the Ferrous and conductivity discrimination being refined over the last 20 years you would think that it would now be a possibility.
Unfortunately it was not true back then and it is still not true today.
Bells and whistles have been added ... waterproofing is now common and affordable ... but the truth is that discrimination has not really improved much.
Take the White's V3i with its three frequency discrimination and color charts ... very advanced ... but at the end of the day you still dug up junk or left some good stuff in the ground.

I think the real advances have been in stability, sensitivity, and response/recovery time.
