3KHZ Coil

I have 80 plus hrs on the 5x10 and around 2 hrs on the std coil. All dry to wet sand on the beach. Just got a 3KHZ coil for land hunting this winter and have a little over 5 hrs on the dry sand trying it out. Love it. As expected, hits clad hard and deep. Just dug a penny between 12-15". Gives great feedback on bottle caps. Iffy on deeper pull tabs with a wide range of TID. Does hit well on nickels, although at 10 where the 5X10 usually hits at 12. Wide response on foil from -2 up to the 40's. Dug a semi-junk ring that bounced from 12 to 20 or so, but hit a solid 18 when I laid it on the sand. For me, it will do fine for land hunting and much better than I thought on the beach. Will have to dig lots of pull-tabs, but iron, bottle caps and foil can stay in the sand. Will be digging everything for a while longer until I feel confident about the sounds and numbers, but it looks like this will be the case.
