3x6 Coil Question with the F70

JaWi.

Member
I have a F70 and was wondering what kind of performance the 3x6 coil gives with the 70? Thanks in advance for the help. HH Joe

Joe, I have the F 75, but the coil will perform the same for each. The only difference would be between your soil and mine. I hunt trashy spots and am not sure when I last took the 61/2" coil off my detector. It gets wonderful depth, 7-8" consistently on coin size targets...and deeper. I run with pretty hot settings, 0 disc. and 95 sen. and at these settings usually runs very quietly. It will find you targets in, near and around trash items that your bigger stock coil can't. Joe, I bought the 6.5 coil for my F75 a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. The soil here is not hot and not only does it get good depth but the signals you get on coin targets is clearer than the stock coil especially if you are in an area where there is a lot of EMI.

The soil here on the Texas Gulf Coast is very mild so I can run in the SL mode, sens @ 45, threshold @ 0 and get amazing depth with no falsing. Seems the faster I swing the coil the deeper it will go. In areas that are very trashy, I keep an eye on the ID meter and watch the numbers, I love it when it hits 78-80, it will be either a quarter or dollar coin. 23 is usually nickles and so forth but my machine runs alot smoother with the small coil vs the stock coil. DE mode gives good depth but the SL mode is far superior. You will like this small coil, have been thinking about getting the round 5" but don't know if I would gain anythng. In open fields the stock coil and SL mode with very little trash will excel....HH John

I have an F70 and bought the little coil at the same time I purchased the detector. I have never used the stock coil except to see if it worked properly. Using SL mode my F70/ 6in coil combo will hit an 8in deep penny with the coil raised 2in off the ground. I was shocked when I discovered the depth. In an air test it will hit on a nickel at 12in. The F70/6in coil is my favorite field hunting combo as it is so easy to work around corn stalks and gets such great depth and target seperation. Last year when I got the F70, it found about a dozen large cents and I don't even remember how many IHs(newer ones and fatties), shield nickels and even some silver. Also managed to get a handful of CW era Eagle buttons. That's not bad for hunting sites in rural Indiana.
