4-1/2 hour beach hunt with the X-70. Whew!!!

I hunted my local beach this morning and practiced digging jewelry IDs, but, no jewelry today:shrug: Did manage almost $5 in clad, 2 butane lighters, a toy car and a key. Our beach season has just started and should pick up when school gets out in another week or so.

I did the auto ground balance in the beach mode and 4 times it read 1, once it read 2, 5, 7 & 8 ( I covered alot of beach today). I first found a clear area, lowered the Sens to about 16, hit GB and then Auto and pumped the coil up & down until it balanced. In the dry I could run the Sens at 27 most of the time, but, when I worked my way to the wet I rebalanced at 7 or 8 and had to lower the Sens to 22 or even lower to quiet it down. I didn't find anything at all in the wet and probably won't for a long time yet. I'm not sure what kind of depth I will get with the Sens between 16 & 22. I plan on using my GT in the wet anyways, but, I still would like to know what I can get out the 70 in all kinds of conditions.
Anyone care to comment on my GB numbers? I was surprised that they went higher when I approached the water's edge. And, how about that 1 GB on the dry? I'm still a bit confused. Comments welcome! I still like the 70, it's a lot of fun to use and if I can swing it for 4-1/2 hours, I'm satisfied.
