I found my 4th Large Cent yesterday afternoon, which brings my total lifetime up to 99 Largies.
I past the 100 mark on pre 1799 and earlier coins several years ago, but getting to that mark on Large Cents has been a tougher goal.
Hopefully this upcoming week I can get number 100, sure would be nice if it were the Chain Cent, but I will settle for any one of them.
Then time to concentrate again on Colonial era coppers and silver.
I found this coins walking back to my truck after failing to find a way to a homestead by a backdoor entrance, so just before I got to my truck I saw a very small, narrow stream and it had some detectable high ground next to it.
As soon as I got near the bank, I got the high pitch reading, crosshairs solid upper right, but the depth was only about 2-4 inches!
Being close to a paved road, I was almost sure it was not going to be an old copper but to much delight, just under the humus layer, only about 2 inches down was the coin. A decent 1827 Coronet Large Cent.
So far in January, I have found a 1802, 1822, 1827 and a 1829 Large Cent.
