4x6 came today

Hi All,

I put it on as soon as I got it and played in the yard for 30 min. I set it up RS at 11, Dsc 85, RD 50, set coil to 4x6 DD and filter to 7.5. Went across st to vacant house I had permission to hunt. Covered about a fourth of the front yard. This coil with the V3i is awesome. I found two silver quarters-1892 Jefferson, 1958 Washington, two nickles and seven pennies. This place is fairly clean compared to some. Im going back to the picnic trash area tomorrow while the weather is good. I plan on reducing the RS, RD back to 40 and swing slooow. The filters as I understand them, the lower the number the slower you have to swing and lower ground mineralization. Do filters have anything to do with trashy areas or depth. The other settings I have listed I understand their relationship to each other, but the filters I dont get. Had a great day with the new coil.

Thanks,
Rt66

Yes the lower the filter, the slower your swing. I'd probly lower your recovery delay a little with that small coil. I don't think the ground filters have anything to do with trash, they help with ground mineralization. I have the 4x6 also, use it in the woods alot. That v3i can be fine tuned, and even perfected with the right coil. Good luck.

Thanks for the input quicksilver. This may be my main coil, takes longer but Im retired so have the time. Seems deadly on coins. I dont think it goes as deep, but we dont have the history that the east has so our coins for the most part isnt as deep. Nobody here till the 1840s.

Good luck to you too

I have a 4.6 I use on my m6. Have v3i also

Yes the filter does make a difference in trashy areas. If you are like me, I can not stand those false bips from swinging just a little fast. If you want to swing faster and cover more ground raise the filter to say a 10 Bandpass and you can speed up without getting all those false blips.
