5” coil on the Kruzer

I got a 5” DD coil for my kruzer a few weeks back. On my first few outings, I ran it on 19khz in 3 tone 89 gain in an iron patch. It did ok but seemed not much better than the stock coil.
Tonight, I used the 5” coil at another site where there’s no surface targets but 2”-6” has been the norm. I used 3 tone 89 gain again but used 5 kHz instead of 19. I was pulling wheaties and other small non ferrous targets out of iron at pretty impressive depth. I got a measured 6” wheatie that was a pretty tone and decent ID with that little coil.
I’m going to revisit the iron patch in 5khz and see what happens.
I do not like the stock coil in iron using 5khz. But this little guy has laser separation and 5khz goes pretty deep too. Really had fun with it.

Thanks for the Post - I use the 5" coil much of the time now. Work great in the water too.
A week ago on vacation I used it in the Copper Country searching old mine areas and roads for lumps of copper.
It works well.
An observation I have made is the ID numbers range from 50 to 95 in locating copper. The larger the copper mass the higher the the ID number.
90 to 95 for lump about the size of a fist.
Operating in 15 KHz with 3 tone - So I believe the ID's for a clad dime, a copper Penny and a Quarter are changed do to mass of the copper content- or size of the object. Uniformity of the coins make the number predictable.
