5.3 Eclipse Coil for V3i

JP66

New member
Morning everyone.
I have been hunting some trashy areas so decided to use my 5.3 Eclipse on my V3i. Now, with that being said, should I make any major adjustments to the machine?
I have been using my Detech 13" lately.
Thanks in advance for your feedback/advice.

Just change coil size in the expert menu (menu button twice) and if you want or depending where it is you might want to adjust delay.
There are a number of posts addressing this so just do a search of this forum and you'll find the info you need.
Also check the chart.

One of many links....just search for a year ago.

Won't these RD numbers change with filter changes?
I would say no Martin. U change Rd to match ur sweep speed. U change ur sweep speed to match ur filter. Faster filter require a faster sweep. Therfore based on the chart if ur sweep is faster u should lower the rd

Assume that we keep the basic similar swing speed on every filter. I many times run a 7.5 or 10 filter instead of the 5hz and do elect to swing faster but I never forced a quicker swing on each higher filter. I presumed that swinging slow or medium on all the higher filters would be effective and have been twiddling with the RD over test coins. Guess I didn't think you could swing too slow.

Thanks. I'll work with this concept tomorrow. martin

The optimum Recovery Delay for a given sweep speed is one that will give you two signals on two targets that are one coil's width apart.

Thanks Rob. I have tried the "search" feature specific to V3i but do not get results for some reason. User error I'm sure.
