5.5" coil for the T-2 on the way. Due in any time.

Mr.Bill

New member
I should have one for inspection within a couple of days, butI don't think it's a DD coil, it could be ???

What I learned was it's a 5.5" coil with a price of $139.

I have them on order. If anyone would like one, please contact me.

Dave says most of the credit goes to Daniel Snell who came over to FT from the old Fisher

The Fisher F75 was designed with a DD coil..But will take a concentric coil too. Maybe the T-2 will take both DD and concentric

Great news Mr. Bill... my understanding that it was supposed to be
a DD. But whatever it is it will be most welcome. This could raise the
bar regarding the T2's ablility as a prospecting and mining alluvial/eluvial
gold machine...

For anyone reading this thread/post.. and happens to be interested
in detecting for free-milling placer gold nuggets; if you have access to
a copy of Western & Eastern Treasure's 2008 Silver & Gold Annual, check out
"Detecting Eolian Placers in the Deserts Southwest."

Also, an other article in the 2007 Silver & Gold "The Electronic Gold Rush."

Anything could happen, but why in the world would they make a 5.5" coil in a DD configuration. A DD coil main design is to aid in detecting in heavy mineralized ground, by cancelling most of the affects of it. Manufacturing a DD coil of this size would have a internal winding of about 3". Not to mention the very difficult job of making it. A 5.5" coil would make such a small footprint there would be no advantage. To top it all off, a concentric coil can discriminate more accurately, isn't as bothered by bottle caps as much, and it's more sensitive.

Nothing surprises me in design & manufacturing, so anything is possible.

Maybe a small DD wouldn't be as good as a concentric, but on the Xterra 70 the small DD outperforms the small concentric hands down.

It's going to be a round coil about 4.75".

It will be a DD type. So my theory was blown out the window.

This is so new, that's why the information is a little screwy. What's important is that we will have the long awaited optional coil for the T-2.

More good news is that this coil could become available for the F-75. :yikes:

Mr Bill... Yes, it may seem a little small. But there must be a reason for it,
such as the availabiliy of a satisfactory small searchcoil mold. "Old"
Fisher may have been developing one back in Los Banos.

Somehow I have the impression that the T2, as it is presently designed
would need some modification to use a concentric coil.

However, as you know a DD, is hot from toe to heel. Also it is noted for
handling areas with more mineralization such as found in the goldfields
or some hot clay areas that I understand exist in the southeast...

As for me, I think this coil will be effective for those that hunt for gold
nuggets; but I hope it is designed so if it is "prudently" bumped against
a bush or even if it skims a rock, it will not "squawk."

sirs, i would like to purchase this coil also i would like to get some feedback on how this new coil is operating before i spend 139.00 on this. there might be some bugs in this new device that you might not like, let me know how this device works when you receive them
