5.75" DD coil on TEJON IS A REAL NICE COMBO

Finally i got a coil I like on the TEJON. i got the 5.75" DD and took it out for a spin in the farm field , and it was very easy to swing thru the grass , and i could keep it closer to the ground , and talk about light . its like a feather even with the coil cover on , still a good discriminator to . after my hunt i decided to try it on my 6 and 7" buried dimes and i was blown away that it got the 6" dime with ease even with the machine neutrally ground balanced . got a one way on the 7" dime with neutral GB but when i turned it to a negative GB it got better then i got a two way on the 7" buried dime and keep in mind the grass is keeping me off the ground at least 1" this little coil is going to really work good on the old house lot and in the woods so glad i got it . Richard gave me a good price on it . i would highly recommend it , on the Tejon . Now i want to keep this machine . by the way i did buy a 5x10 and i was not impressed with that coil , it was not as deep as the stock coil and it had a coil cable so long i could bring to mars, and it was a bit heavy , only good thing i can say bout the 5x 10 elliptical is it really has good coverage and ignore junk well . but this 5.75 is a GEM OF A COIL

yeah when I had it I used the 6" DD coil always nice coil for coins, mine some how came with a long cable and yeah its a real pain in the cable !

A slightly negative GB makes all the difference! Glad you got it straightened out, I bet you will like it as you put more time on it. I need to get a smaller coil for my Bandido II!

Its a sweet machine now , I agree I bet the small concentric would Rock as well . my ground is mineralized thats probably why the 8x9 was not as good in this ground .

I have the 5.75 concentric on my Tejon. It's great for the iron infested sites I normally work in...gets between the old rusty nails.

yeah not used the stock coil much on any Tesoro I like smaller coils biggest one I am using other than CSC is 6 x 8 detech 4 pin , which is only a new addition hoping for the same size 5 pin asap as funds permit. nice coil very sensitive found a fine girls 925 bracelet yesterday and it hit hard don't find many fine ones like that one so I was impressed. still getting back on the DD after time on the concentric's is a small pin point problem they sure are different animals.

started a new sideline today that I have cleaned out of zinc and above over several hunts and now the fun begins Vaquero and detech 6 x 8 disc line below 5 cents and sens at 3 and digging the screamers 1st, produced a hand full of lower conductive coins and a crap load of tabs and 3 hrs hard work , and I start to wonder if I have a to many screws lose

but these are the lives and times of an urban gold hunter.

the T does well at this job also but those battery's are what turned me off it, as I do like the double disc good feature for sure if wanting to share time on coin to gold hunting shame the V doesn't have it, oh well

glad its coming together for you and like any machine only hrs. behind the wheel and some experimenting produce the best results so good job hanging it there as I always do is give any machine 100 hrs. before decide if I want to do some more hrs. on it. think I have only sold 1 detector without putting the 100 on it.

PS I have a new catch phrase tabness in the hole but like I always say my greatest asset is also my greatest weakness and so there are 2 ways of looking at this those tabs keep my gold safe or they drive me insane I chose the 1st , its the only way to keep going.

the stock 8X9 'OOR' [size=small](Out-of-Round)[/size] Concentric for more open, lower-target areas, and the excellent-size 6" coil. You almost have the perfect team, and would have ... in my opinion ... if you would have picked up the 6" Concentric instead of the DD. I live in and travel to and hunt in a lot of very iron mineralized ground, and from years of experience I haven't found there to be little, if any, advantage in ground handling with the DD coils in the average-to smaller-sizes.

I also wish manufacturers would label their coils in a logical manner. Go to the lumber store to buy some boards and they are measured in sizes like 2X4 or 1X3, so the search coils should be the narrower measurement first, and be 8X9, not 9X8, and 8X11, etc., etc. Then, if they would just measure the outside physical size of a coil it would be nice, such as White's "5.3" which measures 6½", and Tesoro's "5.75" with measures about 6".

Anyway, all we need are coils that work for the types of sites we hunt, and since I am in trashier and cramped environments 90% of the time, smaller-size coils rule. I keep a 6" Concentric on my Bandido II, a 6" Concentric on my Silver Sabre µMAX, and a 6" Concentric on my Bandido II µMAX, and I got rid of the stock 8" coils as I never use them. I do have my stock 8X9 Concentric on my Eldorado, but I'm shopping for a 6" Concentric for it, too, to swap when I want it in confined territory.

Just a week ago one of the participants in our 'Welcome-to-Hunt Outing' at some Nevada ghost towns tried his Tejón on the Nail Board Performance Test. He tried the new Tesoro 8X11 DD, and it flunked. Then the Tesoro 6X10 DD, and it was equally unimpressive. Then he opted to try his NEL Sharpshooter, which was just about as saddening. Not having a single DD coil that could handle the NBPT, he mounted his stock, bigger-size 8X9 Concentric and it provided the solid, reliable Tesoro performance I have enjoyed for 32 years. Now all he needs is a good 6" Concentric.

I'm sure you'll do OK with your oDD 6" as well.

I agree if there is iron around cant beat the concentric coils I am a convert I even use that little baby 4" one and it does pick coins out of flogged out spots sure is slow going but I am not in a hurry.

I like that Tesoro's can use both cons and DD coils and not sure why they stopped making the 7" cons ??

anyway all part of the fun isn't it finding what works where and how to set up.

lot of the coins I hunt are not in a blanket of iron but a blanket of tabs etc.. so its a challenge which ever blanket one is faced with

I guess that's why lots buy and then sell its not all fluff and pudding

thanks for sharing your experience with the small coil. i have not been out detecting as much this season. when i can get out more often, will probably get the concentric one for my vaq. always have heard good things about that one.

The first 5.75 coil I tried was a DD on the Vaquero. It worked fine and was pretty deep for a small coil. I bought a new Outlaw this week and tried the 5.75 concentric coil on my only short run. Man it is sweet and like waving a tooth pick! These smaller coils are a dream to pinpoint with too. Mine (on the Outlaw) will get a 5 inch dime,5 inch nickel, and the three nickle stack at 5 inches in my fresh test bed.

yeah the Outlaw with concentric is much nicer to listen to than a Vaquero with a DD both find stuff though.
