5.75 round or 10 X 5 elliptical for vaquero?

Hi All!
This is my first post and I'm hoping to get some advice on coils for the Vaquero for nugget shooting here in the SoCal desert. Which would be my best choice for small gold: Elliptical 10" x 5" (lobo) widescan coil, or 5.75" round widescan coil? I thought the elliptical may get a bit more depth, as well as still fit into the tight spots, but would it handle the mineralization as well as the 5.75? Thanks in advance for any opinions or suggestions you may have. Scott

Never done any prospecting, but have read a lot about it, one Tesoro guru that drops into this forum once in awhile suggests concentric coils for natural gold nuggets. I'd try the 8" concentric or the 5.75 small concentric and run the Vaquero in all-metal mode.

the eliptical coil would do bit better also reduce mineralization against hot rocks and such

If you run the V in disc. mode make sure your at min. disc. setting, a .4 gram nugget will disappear at or just below the iron mark.

Between the two coils I'd lean toward the 5.75.

Thanks for the responses. I'm running in all metal mode, ground balancing every 5 feet or so, but the blacksand is hitting really hard with the stock 9x8 concentric. I've read that the widescan is better in highly mineralized ground but the concentric is a bit deeper. Also, I just read another post that said the 10 x 5 coil isnt as deep as the 5.75 widescan. I think I'm going for the 5.75 widescan. The new gold bugs use a 5" coil so I figure a 5.75 might be a good idea for small gold. Thanks again.
