5 cent tri-fecta

Got a nickel tri fecta today at my fav park. Was hunting a slippery hillside with a cold bath at the bottom. when I took one bad step and went sliding towards a cold bath. Stopped a couple feet from the crick, so I started my hunting there. I figured that many others way back when were in the same predicament that I ended up in, but they didn't have a detector (only pockets fulla nickels) I started digging nickels from a small area (8 total) 1887 V nickel, 1918 indian nickel, 1943-P war nickel, and the rest were common date Jeffersons. Found the silver ring in the hole with the indian nickel. Because I knew this was a very trashy area, I was using the "trashy park" pattern and my 8X6 SEF coil. All nickels read 11-12, 11-13, 12-13. The one with the ring in the hole I heard 2 distinct signals and the numbers were bouncing around from silver to nickel. I also got 3 clad dimes, 2 wheaties, 3 copper lincolns, 1 small padlock......NGE

GREAT FINDS

GOOD STORY

Only I had found a War Nickel and a Buffalo Nickel on 01/07/12 and just realized
I could have been a contender for the Nickel Tr- Fecta if the V had shown up:cry:

No Worries, I am Happy with my Nickels and Congratulate you on your Nickel Tri-Fecta:)

Congrats on the tri-fecta! Were the nickles very deep? I havent dug but only a couple
in 5 hunts thinking they may be coming in at different no,s other than the standard nickle no,s.

The war nickel came in as almost silver, BTW, I did dig 2 rusty nails. The V nickel was about 8 inches deep, the rest averaged 6 to 8 also......NGE P.S. my numbers were only different when the ring was in the hole with the injun.....

Superb finds NGE, I'm still looking for any trifecta.

Congrats and thanks for posting,

Moose

Very nice, you don't hear of nickel trifectas that often, Congrats.

Thanks all. I've had dime tri-fecta's way back when it didn't count, same for quarters. I have been hunting since '60. Man were those the days.......Just revisiting those places I used to hunt.....NGE

Wow, this is like more rare than a tipple double in basketball.
Nice and congrats.
