5 Hours...only 3 coins...but one is the Holy Grail of Injuns'...the 1877:surprised:

very fortunate this year...and very lucky as well.

It's great to be able to share moments like this from my "detecting world".

Even though the condition was not good on the 16d Merc...or this 1877 injun'...at least I was fortunate enough to have my coil pass over them.

I've said it many times...I'm not a collector...I just like the thrill of finding stuff...and not knowing what is gonna' pop out of the ground next.

Thanks again

it out of the olive oil last night and as expected...the front is exactly the same. I think a lot of people thought it would clean up...but there is no patina..and no dirt on the front to "clean". It's worn smooth and I was just super lucky to have the two 7's ledgible on the date.

The back however probably will clean up...and in fact did a little...but I took it out of the oil until I can figure iut how to clean the back better.
Again though...there is nothing to clean on the front:rolleyes:. What you see is what you get:biggrin:

As you can see....the oil removed some dirt crud from the back...but left a stain where the dirt crud was:smoke:

The front...as you can see...didn't change at all:crylol:

I truly think the reverse would clean up to a solid VG or better...but the front is toast.:detecting:

I sent Don in South Jersey a pm about possible cleaning methods of the back...so I will know more when he pm's back.

take care

That is AMAZING bud - HUGE MEGA HUMONGOUS CONGRATS!!!!!!

WOW!!Thats the find of a lifetime in my book!Congrats Bryce.I wouldnt clean that coin at all Yet.maybe get some proffesional coin cleaning solution. That coins worth the care .I bet it cleans up better than you think.Im using the 18x15 S.E.F as much as i can atm.Im looking into the 10x12 as my goto coil tho.Either that or the 6x8.I worry about a depth loss on the 6x8 tho .Thx for the photos and good luck with the restoration.HH

Congratulations on a great find Bryce. The more hours you put in, digging iffy signals, the luckier you get.:clapping:
