5 inch coil next to a metal fence

Bilko

New member
Read the review. Anybody else used one to good effect, please?

You can also kick up the Pro coil on edge, and use the "rim". The edge of the coil also gives off a signal. That said, I have used the pro coil as usual near fences and found good targets. Sure, it gets noisy, but if there's a coin there it still sounds off well. Sweep parallel to the fence, not into it.

i am a newbie so only asking why cant you discrim the fence out while you are working there ONLY asking so please no cheeky comments lol

Because the fence puts off a huge signal. Any coins you could find could probably be seen with your eyes on the surface.

sorry jason i have lost you on this one ok what i was saying is the fence will give off its signal and if you reject it with the cross surely that will discrim it and then just carry on hunting and if you get any signals dig them what can coins on the surface be to do with this please i am a newbie so be gentle with your answer please if i am missing some radical point here thanks again

It doesnt work that way. The E-Tracs DD coil has a huge, powerful field. Fences are large and massive compared to a coin size target. Even if you discriminate out the fence, your machine is still reading the giant signal. The comparative size of the coin gets blocked out by the fence.

Feel free to try it on your own.

thanks for that jason you were very diplomatic in your answer of course i am a woman so i will go and check out what you say as i have metal fencing all around my paddocks and i will print my results very interesting it all goes to me knowing my machine thankyou again
