$5000 coin!!

I promise to improve my hole digging skills! The soil was so dry not allowing me to dig a solid plug but I need to get me a piece of cloth to catch the soil. I did leave the hole completely filled in and clean! This $5000 Mexican coin is only worth $4-$6 dollars but it was fun to detect a coin I wasn't familiar with! BTW....I put the Kennedy 1/2 next to it for a comparison. It I.D...ied at 29.

I found a french coin here in illinois. It was from the 70s... it is kinda cool to dig something like that cause you know it clearly is out of place

Hey GS you trumped my $1000 Peso coin that I found years ago in a schoolyard in Central Kentucky of all places. It is of aluminum and bronze composition and was worth about $1 back then in the 90s. You sure do come across some great finds! Keep hunting.

Thanks Sanderling! I think it was last year or the year before I also detected the $1000 coin. It had me revved up when I saw it in the ground because it was a shiny gold color! I think we all come across some interesting finds from time to time! I also get encouragement from seeing other's share their items!

GS, yeah if I saw that coin denomination looking back at me it would get my heart racing, too. For drop clothes, I cut up old plastic shower curtain liners in sections of 2' x 2'. Dirt doesn't cling or stick to it like cloth nor will it get waterlogged .HH

Dry ground sucks! Especially since all I detect is houses. So in the summer months I bypass a lot of houses in search of a well watered lawn. Also for me I really cant dig plugs in yards as some owners do not like. So for me I use a very sturdy probe of about 7 to 8 inches. At first with the Safari this was really tough for me to do, but now I have finally gotten decent with the pinpointing now and almost always real close to the target and if a little off my pin pointer lets me know to what side I am missing at
Nice coin

Klever I have had a pinpointing problem as well. How did you solve it? About all I detect is the beach and I will get a good tone and dig under the center of the coil only to find the recovered target is a few inches above or below the edge of the hole. Sometimes it is dead on, but usually these are shallower targets. Any tips are welcome. Thanks.

Well for one thing I bought the 8x6 smaller coil. That helped out right away. Also bought a longer probe that can handle the extra depth and force I put on it at times. You also have to find your sweet spot. For me it is actually off to the left and down just a hair. So if I am probing for the target and cant find it then it is 90 percent of the time for me just a hair to the left. Sometimes if I am still having a issue I will stand back up and come at it from the opposite side and then re-pinpoint. But only if it is taking too long. And of course if you have not bought one of the little pin pointers I would suggest that also.
Lot of practice. I first I would not use on homeowners lawns and I was very bad at this. But I just kept at it and did not get discouraged. Eventually the confidence will come to you and you will be very close to your target

Oh also one other thing that helped it when I am in pinpoint mode and I am on the ground sometimes I will kind of put my hand on the coil and press down a little and I can here the loudest point even better. Do not know if this makes sense or not.
