I need some info on this machine from guys useing it what do you think about it do you like it or pass on it

Is this something you have an opportunity to buy? I'm a 705 user and if I subtract the feature that the 505 doesn't have compared to the 705 I'd still say that the 505 is a great machine. I will say that I'd miss auto ground balance though.

I got mine a bit over a month ago. Found over $10.00 in clad so far at a school I had 'cleaned out' with my previous detectors. It's a very responsive machine, that is deep and sensitive. I haven't found any real old coins yet, but 8" clad dimes are a regular occurrence for me, even with the 6" MF coil. Take a look at the owners manual at the ML site, and be sure to download Digger's ebook "Understanding your XTerra" while you are there. It will give you all the info you need to get the goods with the 505. I bought mine used, but I believe if it were to break, I would buy another (or a 705). It's a great machine that is very versatile. If you run it in all metal 19 tones, it will actually drop every target into one of 19 tones and ID#s. This way you can hear/see the coins and the trash, and the coins are less likely to be masked out.

I have been using the 505 for several years now and I think it's a great MDer. when you figure out which coil that will work best for you and the type of soil you have in your area then it will keep up with the Etrac at most places. .

I use the 10.5 MF DD coil and I have been out with ppl that have a Etrac's and if the ground is not super hot or has really bad Electrical problems in that area then I feel I get about the same depth as they do, but the Etrac does a better job at ID'ing.

I think the Etrac is one of the best MDers out there but the Xterra's are not to far behind them and the Xterra's cost a lot less money.

Cant say what the 505 is like but I have the 705 and the 70 and they are lethal on many sites , on beaches I clean up along with another 705 user.
