Sorry Bro Mike I just saw your post, I do have the new GU does this mean it needs to be adjusted, thanks Hank

In either notch setting I get a good nickel tone at 10:00 - 10:30 on the width control.

I adjusted the tone pot on the board CW to get the notch at 10:00 all is well, thanks hank

Hey Mike looks like your notch dial is set @ 10 o'clock , I have mine set at 2 o'clock to get the nickel tone, I may be wrong just wondering, thanks hank

Hey buddy - Thats where I can notch out those figure 8 pull tabs and still get a good nickel sound / tone. You have new tone Golden right?

Mike think about this for a moment. Notch out figure 8 pull tabs (modern pull tabs) and zinc pennies. Set the discrimination to just crackle on foil sports caps. Dig all good clean sounding. targets. That should but you into the range that most gold rings are likely to be found and cut down on the amount of trash you have to dig to find a gold ring. At the same time you're filling you pockets full of coins and a silver rings. The Golden is made for this type of hunting. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?18,1750754

Damn,.... you guys are getting me excited. My Golden is on its way and Im just hoping that the tones and everything else are spot on ok. It just sounds like such a versatile, and very adaptable detector. There's just so much you can tweak for your own stile of detecting. By the sounds of what Ive read even with the notch switch in the off position you can still adjust the notch band dial to tweak the machine.. This Tesoro sounds great...Foil and pull-tabs can be tweaked to be crackly or out...damn this thing sounds so adaptable. Im not after a depth demon so extreme depth isnt an issue...if I can tweak it to increase my finds of jewelly, and contain my exitement long enough not to show the misses the lot,, well heck i may even be able to sell some

Hey tabman - I just posted a video on how to use the Notch Width, with Notch off, to off set foil tones to iron, but still allows you to ID gold in the foil range. This is some detector.

Mike,
I have been inspired by your vids as well, I have both MLs and Tesoro's, it seems in a lot of situations the Tesoro performs better in terms of target separation, recovery speed, the ability to detect with other detectorists without interference, etc. I am now considering the Golden U! anyone looking for an ET?

Hank -
I've got a Golden with the same issue. Which pot are you calling the "tone" pot? I see 2 blue pots on the board, one is closer to the center of the board (left to right) and the other is to the right and down from that one.

Thanks,
David
