5x8 impressed me tonight

I was able to get out for a couple hrs tonight, I walked through the backyard an onto the golf course. I didn't find anything except a few old bullet shells. I worked my way back home as the sun was setting, and decided to hit the small patch of grass in the front yard by the street. I have hit this spot a zillion times, it's a small patch of grass, and I figured I was wasting my time. I got a weird signal, sort of all over the place, so I decided to dig. It turned out to be two dimes, a nickel, and a penny. Then another dime 3 feet away. About another 3 feet and I got a very slight sweet whisper. It sounded good from all directions, and it sounded deep. Ten inches deep I found this silver quarter! My mind was blown, I seriously have scanned this spot so many times.

What a great coil, I'm leaving it on!

Yep; Garrett isn't kidding when it states that pounded sites come alive. Congrats!

It just amazes me what this detector and coil can do. Great hunt, congrats! Joe.

Great story, JC. That little 5x8 sure gets the job done! It has helped me pull many rabbits out of the hat! :super:

WTG JC. Glad you listened to those whispers. I love the way the AT/Pro picks coins out of the trash. HH

I know one thing for sure after installing it on the Pro ,it transforms it into a totally different machine for sure Balances out nice will be using it this weekend for the first time . I know the stock coil is nice and will be my large field coil but after swinging it for 4 hours the arm is sore I also have the 6x9 concentric and was shocked on how heavy it was may end up selling it from non use

Very nice day I'd say, congrats. I got my Pro in Jan, and was reading all the posts on it, and the ones about the smaller double d coil being better, and in the back of my mind I'm going "yeah, right". Well 2 months ago I put on the 8X5 coil, and I don't think it's coming off, I love that coil! Way to go, GL&HH Artie

Thanks guys, I agree the 5x8 is great! I have heard some guys say that at a new spot, first they cover the site with the stock coil, then hit it again with the 5x8 to find the tricky good targets. I think I might try this, might be a great way to utilize the benefits of both coils...

Nice silver find. Congrats !
