6" DD EXcelerator vs Sunray X-5

Hey guys, hope I'm not bringing up an old topic with this. I searched around and couldn't really find any comparison info on these two. I run a Safari and want to get opinions on which coil is best for those really trashy area's? I currently have an SEF 6x8 and really like it and plan to keep it but wanted an even smaller coil just in case. Which do you think is best between these two coils and also do you think I even need a smaller one since I already have the 6x8?

Thanks in advance!

I have never used a Sunray X-5 coil but have the 6 inch EXcelerator coil. I like the 6 inch EXcelerator coil a lot and found a silver quarter down 8 to 9 inches with it. That little coil will go deep! I am not sure if the 6 inch EXcelerator coil will get any better separation then the 6X8 SEF. I would guess the X-5 would get a tad bit better separation. Here is a link were you can find more info on these coils. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?19,1055627

Thanks for the info John. Much appreciated. Yes I've heard a lot of praise about the 6" DD and considering it's cheaper than the Sun Ray it's pretty tempting.

Sunray X-5 whips it all day in separation and depth! Best small coil out! I had the 6" excellerator and sold it after I used the X-5.

Ditto on the X-5. I followed Bryce's advice on this coil & I am very happy with my choice for hunting those trashy areas.

Hey just got back online and saw the new posts. Big thanks again to everyone for helping me out on this. Lots of great info for me to look through now. I just hunted an old railroad area right by the tracks today. Lots of trash. Even though I was using my 6x8 I'm sure an even smaller coil may have produced some finds that I missed. Even though it's more expensive I've been leaning more toward the X-5. Thanks again for the info guys. I'm gonna read through it all now.
