6" Digger Coil Save Deer's Life.....Kind Of

I decided today that I'd goto the private park that I found the 500 coins at. I'd written this place off and really didn't feel like I would ever go back unless I was desperate for a place to detect. After getting the 6" Digger coil yesterday I thought this may be a great place to give one more shot using the Digger coil.

I spent about an hour and a half there finding 2 wheats a dime, a nickel and two memorial cents. This place is not used anymore and up for sale but they keep the land in immaculate condition. At one point I got over near their shed that I thought they kept their tractor in. All of the sudden I heard some loud crashing around and it almost sounded like person was in this shed. I could see that it was locked from the outside so I suspected that maybe an animal had gotten in their the last time they had the mower out and it just didn't get out. A short time later I heard these same noises and whatever was in there sounded big. I called the guy that gave us permission to hunt the property and told him that I thought something got trapped in their shed and it sounded rather large. He was concerned that it might be a bear. He said he would come over in an hour or so to let whatever was in there out.

I walked back over with my iPhone running, not sure what I was going to see but I knew it probably couldn't get out and run towards me because from time to time it was giving it's all to get out. I was surprised to see a button buck inside! It looked kind of emaciated but I would suspect that he will be ok. The shed was built into the hillside and the tin roof was in poor condition and it had fallen through the roof. There were some minor cuts from trying to get back out and getting scraped up on the roof. It couldn't get enough traction on something to make it's way out.

Had I not gone over to try out the new coil, who knows how much longer it would have been alive. It turned out that they don't keep anything in this shed and whomever comes to cut the grass may not have heard it rustling around in there. Yesterday a snake, today a deer, but I ended up finding more coins in an area that just hadn't been giving up coins very easily.

The guy that gave us permission to detect called me a little while ago and said that he got the door open and he took off on his way. Hopefully they will do something about that roof.
