6" "Digger" Put A Smile On My Face Again!

Old Longhair

Crazy Ol' Foole
Staff member
I hit the old farm again today with the "Digger", and it has shown me the light!

This place has not only been previously hunted, but it has been re-sided, and recently re-roofed, so the nails and trash near the house is unbelievable! But the little 3kHz prevailed, sorting through multiple hits per swing, and came though with the goods.

The first shiney bit was a Sarah Coventry mare & foal pendant that was only a few inches deep, and it isn't very old, but sterling none the less.
The second was a good bit deeper @ 8"+, and a good bit older too........a no date SLQ!

This is the same farm that I found the 1863 CW token at, and I'm going back for a while tomorrow to finish up. The ground that I have to cover is more open and away from the house (and the trash) so I'll likely use the 15" All Terrain 3kHz and see what deep treasures the others might have missed.

Well like the old saying goes: "Big things come in small packages". Congrats on the silver:thumbup: Gonna have to get one of these for the X70.

Old silver and new silver..... nice finds!!!
Congradulations.. sounds like you like that little coil!!!

Nice finds ,Been thinking about the 6"er would like to have a 3KHZ. coil
The horse pendant is nice.
Good hunt .

Sweet finds!
I know they 6" goes deep, hit like a spear in the ground...

No I haven't mike. I don't even own a 6" HF DD. I'm more of a coinshooter, so I really have no use or desire to have the little HF coil.
The biggest difference would be the response to targets. The "Digger" might be a little deeper due to it's being 3kHz, and it won't reliably ID nickels or other low conductors, but that also means that it differenciates between iron and good targets better than a higher frequency. With the 9" LF CC and the "Digger" I dig fewer rusty crown caps than with any other coils.

Coin shooting here in Europe is on another level since we are hunting for the lower condutors like hammered coins and many of the older coins are small in size and thickness.
Some of the older silvers migtht only have 30% silver and they ring in at a very low number.Had found a couple oldies at quarter size that came in at 12-18.This are coins Im sure not wanna miss.

Therefore I like my 6"DD for coin shooting, finding thus small silver between all the junk. Its such a good coil at feather weight.Perfect in water as well, have to get a proper digging tool for water hunting:spin:
