6" Excelerator coil and 7 Hours of Hunting Sunday got me 21 Keepers...7 of them SILVER!

Bryce,I have several old home sites to find and hunt but waiting for the ticks and chiggers to leave if you know what I mean.I need to check it closer and see if I can locate a few close to road. Good luck on your next hunt.

Forest Park when I was hunting with GOLDDIGGER and liked the sounds it made. When he got a signal he would call me over and I ran my coil over it. I remember he got a signal that we both thought for sure was a wheatie..but it ended up being a clad panny at about 7". 7" amidst the worst trash I have ever hunted in!... The original World's Fair pavillion area.
I have the 4.5 x 7" excelerator and at the time I used it most I was experimenting with all metal/ferrous sounds/low gain/low sens. I had good results and it is a great coil. I could crank up the gain and sensitivity with that coil too. However since hunting with GOLDDIGGER and getting tips from him....and getting some great tips from James (ND) and others...you know who you are.....I have gone back to Conductive sounds. I also run semi auto sensitivity and high gain.
I can honestly say my finds have tripled since doing so.
With the bigger coil I run around 26 semi auto and gain at 9 or 10.
With the 6" excelerator coil I was able to run sensitivity at full 32 while in semi auto and the gain at 10 at this particular site.
Everyone has there own style of hunting that suits them. Some like All metal/Ferrous/low gain and find tons of stuff that way. I tried that for a few months and did okay with it. NH Bob and Mike (Virginia Beach) gave me some great tips to hunt that way and pretty much guided me along. They find TONS and I mean TONS of stuff hunting wide open all metal. For me though I have been more than happy since going back to Conductive sounds and higher settings. I also improved my finds when I gave semi auto sensitivity a try. I HATED it at first but I stuck with it and got used to the sounds it makes....just as I did learning AM/ferrous. The key to getting the depth you need is just simply experimenting with different settings and coils. What works for some isn't going to work for others. If one person hunts AM/ferrous/lower gain while another hunter uses conductive sounds/high gain/semi auto sens.....they are not going to hear the same sounds and may like a particular coil more...or less depending on their personal preference.
At least that is what I experienced when trying different things. One person may try the coil...or any other coil and think it doesn't get the depth they need...then on the other hand they may really like it.
For me it's about one thing. If it works for me and I find stuff with it...then it stays. I found lots of stuff with this coil in 7 hours...so it's not going anywhere.
Bigger areas I'll use the 12.5 coil...smaller trashy areas...this 6" coil will be on my SE.

OR I might have just miss spelled the word BUM by selling it BUMB ! I am a stupid old man that can not spell ! I only know how to dig COINS!!!!H.H. (GOLDDIGGER) J.W.

I have to admire your enthusiasm for coin shooting - the mark of a true pro!. I used to have alot of enthusiasm too but not as much these these days as many sites seem to be worked out these days.

hunting for a couple hours and feel victorious if I can pull just one lone wheatie from a "worked out" place. Different coils allow me to have a different approach at each place.
