6 hrs of hunting, but, a ton of fun!!

6 hours of hunting today and covered only a small part of a local park. Here is a pic of the take, except for a piece in the "Whatzit" forum:

Here is something for any of our Brit folks and something you don't see everyday here in the U.S.!! I'm putting this in the "Whatzit" forum, as well:

Found the key to my Chateau and a spare for a Hot Wheel:

This is the first one of these I have seen and it was minted in 2009.....thought I had something cool until I saw the date!:

70 coins for a total of $3.65 in clad and an untold amount of tabs and can shrapnel put in the trash. Sure hope the next MD'er appreciates that!

I hate it when I read so many posts from people who have lost sight of the "FUN" factor, and their out for only old valuable items.

Sure it is nice finding old valuable coins..but it's also nice to just enjoy the Hobby too. Keep the great attitude Sir.. Thanks for posting your finds.

Thanks, Elton.....very kind words. I do love this hobby. I remember the first little hunt (about 20 min) I made in my backyard.......found a piece of 10 ga. copper wire about 2" long and a smashed soda can......I was stoked! The next hunt was about 30 min in another area and I found a dime and a penny!.......I was hooked! It just keeps getting better and I will be doing this as long as I can swing and dig!

Good haul Roland. As other have said and you know full well, detecting is all about having fun and detecting is certainly that. I have seen that made in England piece somewhere. In fact, I may even have one in my "catch all" jug. For some reason I'm thinking it is sown on a certain mfg coats, kind of like a label in the collar area????? HH jim tn

Rick, the camera used for those pictures is a Panasonic Lumix, 7.2 Mpix. It's a fairly inexpensive camera now......IIRC, I paid $170 for it about 5 years ago. If I need quality, I use my wife's camera....a Canon Rebel.....THAT'S a nice camera!

Jim, I think the "Made in England" piece is the bottom part of a clamp that hold the brake lever assembly on the handlebars of an English bicycle. It is waaay to heavy for a collar tag!

I'll be posting one of tonight's finds in a few minutes..........

I agree !!!

I have no goals when I hunt, I just go out and enjoy the outdoors, the peace and quiet. This is a hobby and I do if for fun.
Actually, I might have lied, I would like to find a old gold coin, so I guess I do have a goal, but with no pressure to find it.

i agree!..elton!..when you lose sight of really WHY you are
out there in the first place,then,you lose perspective!.."anticipation"
of finding something valuable can be extremely "motivating" however,
the "fun" factor cannot be discounted,as it is really the "primary" reason
we go out.
