6 x 10 coil overload

I just received a used 6 x 10 coil for my V3i. I can only turn the rx gain up to 7 with the tx boost on. Anything above that overloads. All of my other coils will not overload after rx of 7. Does anyone else know if it is suppose to or did I get a bad coil? I'm pretty sure that I should be able to run the rx gain higher than that. Thanks for the help.

Call Whites, but their test says no overload with RX15 and no boost is a good coil. After that if they want to exchange it, it is up to them. The last word is with them, give them a call.

Yes it is v rated. My buddy says that he can't turn his rx gain too high on his 5.3 coil with the tx boost on without the machine overloading. Maybe it is too much power for the smaller coils.

I had the 6x10 on my MXT do the same. All other coils worked fine and had tried the 6x10 in other areas. I used to be able to crank the gain up, I had the coil submerged and shortly after this happened. I to bought it used and thought the coil cover was always on, WRONG, when I pulled the cover I saw the guy had run it without a cover for a while and had deep gouges in it. My fault for not checking when I bought it I guess. Good luck!

I have had two 6x10's go bad one on my DFX and one on my V3i . The brand new one for my V3i would go to RX15 with no overload , but turn the boost on and it would overload. Whites in Sweet Home said that the V-rated coil is bad if it would not do that. Received the replacement from Whites and put it on with RX15 and boost mode with no problems. Same way with my 5.3 and D2 I can run them the same way, wide open with boost.

I can only repeat what Whites has posted on their site, on our site, and told to me personally by Carl Moreland. That is if a V rated coil can be run with boost off at RX 15 Whites will consider that coil good.
