6000 XLpro

I use to have one back in the 80's.Didn't notice before, but I was just looking at the meter on one on ebay. You can probably buy it for under $400.Anyhow,I noticed the gold band looked like it went from 20 - 80.Is this right? Most smaller gold rings and chains come in from 0 to 20.Dave

I have not found any of the gold, with my XLpro , In the gold range. It has always been in the lower #'s like 12 or so.

is test its sensitivity to gold rings especially the smaller and more low conductive ones. What I found with the 6000 XL Pro is that the smaller 10K yellow gold and 14K white gold rings will give a good audio indication at average depths but will NOT give a VDI indication. The needle would not even wiggle on the smaller stuff, at least on the XL Pro I had.

I just bought a used Pro so am basically learning and love it. Enough that I bought a new one, as they are not making them any longer. I shouldn't have a problem selling the used one as it is an excellent machine.
Well this past Sunday I got out to an old site where there had been a stage stop and Hotel (1857-1869), found this beauty of a ring. Very old!! Since gold wasn't marked w/karats until 1906 it is unmarked but definitely not plated. Appears to be a garnet or ruby. I got a reading right square under the nickle mark. I would like to know if anyone has hit a gold coin with the Pro and what numbers they hit at.

I like it! Nice color on the stone too, I hope it checks out as a ruby.
