Ok I read bryce's tests on the SEF coils. Great job on having them all in one grouping bryce!
I just came into a little money from selling off a couple of extra detectors. While it is not enough to get my dream machine (E-Trac), it is sufficient to perform some major upgrading by accessorizing an Explorer II that I recently acquired. After getting a new X-1 probe for it and some new headphones and an extra lower shaft, I found that I have enough left over to get both the 6x8 and 10x12 SEF coils. I have been swinging an Explorer XS with stock coils (10.5" and 8") with an X-1 probe since 2002. So while the Ex II isn't an E-Trac, it's still a step up for me!
I assume that bryce's tests were done using his SE unless I missed something. I have also seen a 6x8 SEF in action on YouTube, albeit on an E-Trac, the guy running it said he was in a hammered out area but he was digging plenty of silver.
So I was wondering if these SEF coils will be worthwhile on an earlier platform such as the Explorer II. Or an XS for that matter.
I can't see how they wouldn't benefit me......unless someone knows something that I should be made aware of to the contrary.
Thanks in advance for any advice
