Well I tried to hunt as much as time would allow this week. Found the IH on memorial day along with 3 wheats at an old school. Tues. I went to a new park about an hour away and hunted for a couple of hours. Only pulled out 3 old coins. This park as seen its share of floods and at times has been under close to 4 feet of water. I found the 1942S Silver War Nickel (left my mark on it) a 1925 Buffalo and 1 wheat cent. Didn't hunt again until Friday morning. Had a meeting so went early to the Fairgrounds for a 45 min. hunt and only pulled out 1 coin....but it was first for me - 1951 Rosie! (D&P-OR left me this one as well) Saturday had to go to town and stopped by on the place I've been filming at for 1 hour and pulled out 1 coin there. This is my oldest coin to date and is the "very worn" 1883 V Nickel. The back is so worn, but can just make out part of the "cents" so this told me it was the later coin mint of that year!
After church took the family to an old park I've never hunted. I must say I don't envy you guys that have the parks full of pull tabs, I got tired and finally called it quits for the day of digging beavertails. The reason I dug so many is on my first hit 6 feet from the Durango I pulled the 1915S Barber at about 6 inches. I hunted that place for 2 hours and pulled out about 18 memorials 2 quarters (one 2007 that nulled when I put the X-1 on it...good hit only 1 inch down but nulled using the probe, even in the air! - AM it read 12-50 - anyone else see this?). 3 clad dimes and 1 1980 nickel and 1 1945 wheat. I'll be back from time to time to keep cleaning out the beavertails.
Last stop was at a Sod house that has been in my wife's family since it was built in 1900. Only hunted about 20 minutes and found another 45 wheat. Hope you guys had a good weekend and thanks for posting all you stories and pictures of your hunts!
