7 keys no teeth

7centsworth

Well-known member
I managed to get out for about 2 hours today. I found about $1.25 in change. I have hunted this place twice I found half of a zippo style lighter the other day and the second half today. I found 7 keys and not a one of them had teeth, I thought that was strange. My best find of the day is some sort of medal or token. It is copper and on back says solid leather footwear and front says peters weatherbird shoes. It has a piture of a man bird kind pf figure. When I get more familar with this computer and forum I will post pictures. Didn't find much but I had a blast doing it. :minelab:

Hello 7cents worth the keys are probably blanks before being cut but at least you got out.Howard

I think they were blanks it was just odd they were scattered all over the yard. Guess kids were playing with them, because I did find two hot wheels at about the same depth.:detecting:

Glad you could do some :detecting: and you did find something, so that's better than nothing! :) You will find more I am sure when the weather warms up and/or you can get out for longer periods of time! Congrats and hope you can post some pics, too! God Bless! Betty

The info I found on it seem to be from the 20's - 30's. Also the items I seen were quite collectable and somewhat valuable! Nice going!

I looked for information on net , but never had much luck. I seen information on shoes , but not medal . Where did you find info , if you do not mind telling me. Thanks! :minelab:

ebay at first. There they have advertising pieces and some watch fobs etc... I didn't see any tokens, but I did do a google and seen mantion of them but no pictures.

P.S. After you read a post, scroll down a bit and you can reply right under someones post. That way people know who you are replying to. :)

I looked on ebay I typed in weatherbird shoes and there it was , first picture. It was a watch fob selling for 49 dollars. What exactly is a watch fob I have never found one before.:poke: :minelab:

Hi....I am not Mike, but a watch fob is what a pocket watch fit onto and the holder attached to the coveralls or pants or? so the watch couldn't be lost.....They would take the watch out of their pockets and look at the time and then slip it back into the pocket! I've never found one, but old enough to know what they were used for! :) Mike and Steve (AZ) and maybe others can tell you more and in good or excellent shape they are worth the $$'s! Had to put my two cents worth in....sorry guys and gals! Ma loves to write and give what little knowledge I have! God Bless! Betty

Thanks Ma. Mine looks identical to the one on ebay. It still has the paint on the figures face. I think it kinda neat. :wiggle:

most all of them were advertising pieces. You have a nice find there! Fobs are way harder to come by than tokens. Congrats!

:huh:Thought I would post a couple of pics of my watch fob, front and back. Will post some family pics later...all our pics have to be resized for upload. The front says peters weatherbird shoes. Can yall tell me how old it is?

Nice pics of your Watch Fob and sorry I cannot tell you the age, but I'm sure some research on it will help! Probably before 1950 or earlier! :) God Bless
