Is there a big difference. I hunt relics in iron infested sites. Thanks
 
The differences are distinct, but their significance depends on you and your specific circumstances.

I've had both, and I prefer the 70. Used with the 10.5DD HF coil it is deadly on relics. The 6" DD HF coil for trashy iron works great also. I even had good luck with it in Virginia, Cullpepper red dirt.
 
As OHL pointed out, there is a difference in functionality. But, they are very similar in raw performance. Usually, when you compare a 70 to a 705, differences between them could likely be attributed to those specific machines, not the series. My point is, the 705 added functionality. It didn't "dumb-down" anything that existed in the 70. JMHO HH Randy
