705 arrived!!

Picked up my 705 this afternoon and made it home about 15 minutes before light.

Glanced at the manual and read that it will default to a factory set coin & relic. Read that, put the batteries and hit the backyard.

Dug a coin @ about 6-8 inches within 5 minutes. Couldn't tell if it was an old penny or a dime (was reading 32). It was old enough that it wasn't easily identified. The reason I keep saying "was" is that I give it to my 2 yr old to put in her pouch, had another hit and wasn't paying attention lol.

Long story short- it missed the pouch and is still in the backyard. It got dark and I'll try it tomorrow. Pretty happy with the detector so far!!!!

Congrats on finding a coin "right off the bat". The good news is......... there is a coin out in your backyard that won't take much digging! HH Randy

Hey! Congrats!!!

I just got mine a week or so back. loving it so far. It's a quality bit of kit.

Hope to get out to some old gold diggings soon.

Cheers,

Congratulations on your new detector.

So, what sort of coil did it come with? Was it the "new" gold pack?

I received the stock coil. I think I'll order the coil that comes in the gold pack this next week.

I found the coin my 2 yr old dropped (the one I dug at 6-8 inches on my first "hit"). Turned out to be a 2001 penny

With my job, I travel the state of WY extensively and often end up in some remote areas.

Today I found an old set of buildings. One building was an old merc/saloon. Windows are broke out and I peeked in to see this:

The actual owner is out of state but the property owner around the building give me permission to hunt the area. He showed me where the original merc was. The original was built in the late 1800's but burned down. The property owner wasn't sure when the new one was built and the previous burned down.

I had half an hour to snoop around today. Dug a couple old beer cans and quite a few pull tabs. Looking forward to going back!

Hang in there and dig everything, you will bond with the Xterra and it will produce fantastic finds!!!!................MO
