705 depth question

Does anybody know if the 705 is as deep as the SE Pro given the same conditions. Trying to figure out which machine I should get. TIA

I have both, and given equal coil size, and if you've chosen the proper frequency for the targets sought, then I would say "yes".
Directly comparing the two technologies is tough. Each has it's advantages depending on conditions and what you're hunting for. In general, the Xterra is my "go to" machine for several reasons. First, it's faster. Second, it's more stable, Third, IMO it does better in iron infested ground with the right frequency, Fourth, it's lighter weight, and if I try I'm sure that I could come up with more reasons.

Don't get me wrong. I like my SE, but it will go down the road long before I'll part with the 705. And it will be an FBS2 machine that takes the Explorer's place, be it a CTX, or whatever else Minelab adds to the line between now and then. Until then, the two machines compliment each other, and I'll keep 'em both.

Thanks Old Longhair!!!!! I greatly appreciate your input. I believe I am on the right track picking the 705. For the detecting that I do I think the 705 will fit my needs. Happy Hunting

If you do get the 705 you might want to get the 10.5 DD 7.5 coil too. I use the live in Burlington and the Conc coil just did not work to good for me in that area, the soil is a lil on the hot side there. I did a lot of MDing in your area and their was a White's dealer over in Keokuk so a lot of ppl used White's. The one thing I notices that I would do a lot better in public areas if I found a iron patch. A area that was loaded with bottle caps and nails. It seems that the White's MDers didn't do so good in those areas.

Good luck and have fun..

I had the explorer se professional and I still have an xterra 505 and I also have a v3i. They are all very good detectors. Now, with explorer I found the most of the coins I owned ever, it found coins for me 12'' deep with it's stock 11''HFDD coil. Xterra can find deep coins with the 10.5DDMF but larger because of the frequency. V3i is a very fine detector that is not living anything behind with it's 10DD coil but needs an aftermarket bigger coil to go that deep. Explorer runs with 8 battery cells 1.5v, Xterra with 4 cell 1.5v, V3i 8 cell 1.5v. I hope that can help you.

If you already have a 505 then if it was me I would buy the Etrac....

I own the 705 and love it for tot lots and swimming areas looking for gold, but I agree that if you already have the 505 an E-Trac would be a great compliment to it. You'd have the best of both worlds.

I don't have a detector at the moment. That's why I asked about the depth between the two machines. Also, Thanks for replies guy's it's greatly appreciated. This is a great forum to come to and get the right answers. That's Priceless

Xterra 705 and E-trac is a perfect setup, ready for any kind of ground. Love Xterrie on fields, there she is my first choice. Etrac on trashy sights is marvelous and make magic... with the 6x8 SEF.

I concur, but I have CTX and a 705 - about the same thing.
