705 with Digger LF or 5x10 HF, TID question.

I've played quite a bit with my 705 and Digger 3 khz coil but as I've mentioned I have not got the coil on silver. My fault for obcessing with the 70's built school determined to find at least a Rosie before moving on.
My question is what numbers are you guys getting when you do hit a silver dime, quarter and half? I've air tested with a merc dime but wonder what they'd read in the ground. I'm usually getting a ground phase of about 20. Sens at 18 - 22 when searching around the school that was built on old farm land.

I have a lil tip for you if you want to find old silver... Go find a school that was built in 20's, 30's or 40's and when you find an old school go waaaaay out back and start MDing there. silver coins ID pretty much the same as a clad coin...... One other tip, if your not finding wheat's then your most likely not going to find silver either.

Thanks Mark, Your right I've never hit/ dug a wheatie with the 705. 3 months I've had it and using only the digger coil. Its definetly the locations. I need to find older schools and parks. I think schools are maybe less pounded around me. I know of one school that shows it was there and established in aeirial photos in 1965. I can't seem to find anything online to tell me when it was built. Did a quick hunt for about an hr there a couple months ago and its got a fair amount of clad.
If I go back to the school that's at least 50 yrs. old would you keep the digger 3 khz coil on or try the 5x10 18.75 khz. to cover more ground. Just wondering because I've just had a problem. I going to post a new message on what happened later so more guys see it. My digger coil went ape crap today. TID and sound bouncing all over wether on trash or coin. Never had that unless I overcranked the sens really high. I'll post details so all see.

Sounds like an EMI issue. Chances are good that any other coil would have done the same under the same circumstances.

As far as your TID question goes, I wrote about it in my post about the Digger when it first came out.

If silver and copper are the desired targets, then the Digger is going to do better at finding it than the 5x10" HF DD (Gold Pack coil). And the reason is simple. Silver and Copper respond to lower frequency more dramatically than higher frequency. Beyond that, lower frequency penetrates ground a bit better, will discern between good coin targets and trash better, the 6" coil will separate better than the 5x10" because separation is not just a matter of width but heel-to-toe as well, and due to target bin width assignments the HF coil will be poorer at correctly identifying high conductors.

Thanks LH, and yes your spot on. I switched to the HF 5x10 but more for trying to hit jewelry in the ball fields. I then realized I did not noise cancell the 705. After Auto NC it improved but not much. That's when I remembered that I've always had moist soil conditions here in CT. Right now its terribly dry even under the thick sod/ grass. The summer sun has been very uncomfortable and has baked all moisture from the ground. I don't know if this effects my 705 but it is a condition I've never hunted in. Still learning stuff. As you've pointed out before, go out hunt and go back to the manual and read and re-read.
Oh, I've also just remembered I had my cell phone in my pocket. I usually keep it in the car. Could very well been the phone due to the constant digital online links updating and getting a fix on my phone. Its a windows phone!
A couple hrs in the field and I'm allready planning on switching back to my beloved little Digger coil. Thanks guys..

The numbers that I got from my silver dimes ranged from 33 to 42 with my x terra 505. I always run the sensitivity between 14 and 18.
