8" Concentric donut

Ok, so I am trying to find out why some of you use the 8" donut on your Vaquero or other H.O.T. machine. What makes this coil better than the stock 9x8? Is it worth getting?
Thanks for any input.
Bill

It might be less grabby in a field with crop stubble or in the woods. Or it just might scrub a little better. I've tried to reason it out myself and that all I got

All tesoro users have noted how good this coil is.I have not heard of anyone use this coil with the vaq.I bet it is good on the vaq.The very thin profile really has a good feel. The 8" concentric has gained it's popularity with the umax detectors.I bet if i put one of theses 8"doughnuts on a tejon it would really perform good. These coils are so accurate and fast. And yes if woods hunting it would be so much easier to work it than the open spider style 9x8 that does get hung.Coil shape and size really matters with the environment.Solid coils are becoming more rare.Look at the designs of coils from all major detector makers. All open style.Solid coils are old school. But the 8" round is so flat,so it is called a pancake coil also. :O
