does anybody using this coil find it difficult to pinpoint a target, once the general area is located?if I didn't have a separate pinpointer,i would waste a lot of time trying to find the item.i'm using the silver umax detector, blowfly

I'm pretty much dead every time. That's why I use the 8 inch dough coil. :)

I find the stock 9x8 difficult to pinpoint and a stick magnet, hoping a 8 inch concentric will be easier to PP and better in the woods.

Blowfly, my memories of the donut coil are that it you take care with pinpointing, the target will be in the centre of the hole in the centre of the coil. Pete

Always had deadnuts pinpointing with mine. Try it at a different hunting site.

Usually if you "X" the target and slow your swing a bit while watching the ground the target will be in the center of the coil hole, I find all of my tesoros to be very accurate on pinpointing, I feel the pinpointing option on most machines is redundant.

Find the target, if its not straight down, it's off to the side of the hole, probably wire or iron.

You can also try this works on many motion machines you find difficult to pinpoint with. Find the target, stop the coil over the target wait a second, then give a 1-2" wiggle, when you get a sound, should be center.

Another way, center the coil over the target, raise and lower (bounce) the coil off the ground an inch or two every second.

You need to get your timing right when you try the above methods, giving the detector a second to recover and retune. If done correctly target should be center of coil.

8 " Coil actually pinpoints much better than some of the others for me.

Works well for me.

If all that information don't work , try doing the X and raise the coil off the ground. Go up as high as you can to where right before you loose the beep. Wiggle just a little. Some times this helps me a lot. If you are as high as your knee, Keep going. It is a beer can. Hope that helps... KEN
