8x14 eclipse

It is not nulled for the V3i and I haven't heard of any plans to do so. It is one heavy coil to swing for very long.

It is only 8 inches wide. It has no advantage over the 10 inch D2 coil. It does have a bit more coverage, but then again so does a larger SEF coil, and it weighs a lot less. I am to old for heavy coils like the 8X14.

jack great to hear from you ! your forum advice lead me to buy a dfx a year ago [after 2 years of reasearch] sense then ive found 150 silver coins and $3500 worth of scrap jewlery the reason i ask is i just bought a v3i but my 10x12sef and stock d2 are useless on my maine beaches the sef wraps 22.5 to -90 on a quarter signal ,d2 does not but to get any reasonable depth it has to be almost wide open as with the dfxsef combo but the lack of sweep speed adjustment on the v i cant tame salt falseing with either coil the v's filters just dont cut it. with the dfxsef i can run pamp 4 sens75 with very little falseing if i turn the sweep to 1 it falses like crazy just like the v. idont know why whites would eliminate the number 1 setting to be able to run high sens at the beach. more on my salt beach post. its an honor to talk to you. i know u live in the mountains ,but any advice would be great. thanks

Jack is much more knowledgeable than me but I will take a crack at it...

Swing speed adjustment comes down to modulation of 3 different parameters. SAT (self adjusting threshold),Ground filter and last but not least Recovery delay. Once you have found a stable frequency in the ground you are hunting you can use the recovery delay to optimize your target depth and separation characteristics.

Just a slight change of any one of these parameters of 5 or more- on a scale of 1-30 will cause my detector to see a dozen new targets of positive vdi in a 100sq foot area. Meaning no area is now hunted out entirely.

I initially was running a sat of 2 after reading some reasoning on this low of a setting. I have now run mine up to 20 and have actually found it to be more productive in high trash areas.

ok so uping sat and and recovery should produce the same filter buffering effect as sweep adj. ? will give it a shot im really pulling my hair out on this one! thanks for the imput.

Unless you are using Mixed Mode or All metal, SAT should have no affect in discrimination mode.

SEF coils behave quite nicely in Single frequency 2.5kHZ and 7.5KHz. The Correlate mode does not wrap as badly as the Best Data if you want to use a 3 frequency mode. You need to adjust your wrap to at least =94. If your ground VDI falls in this range it's going to be very noisy. I don't think the SEF is practical if your swing speed is fast. I swing pretty slow. The SEF just does not work well in certain soils. I am fortunate that it behaves for me in my moderate soil. In all honesty I hardly ever use the SEF anymore.

Jack

I have to agree with you Jack on SEF style coils, they have their place and the more mineralized the ground, the better they work. My ground is very mineralized and I use the 10X12 almost 100% of the time even though they are not optimised for 22.5.

today i tried a correlate version with the wrap at -90 and span at 40 running high sens rx and tx on i think my trouble was 3 frequency salt just doesnt work at my beaches toomuch 22.5 wrap but correlate seems to fix it, havent tried the sef again but hope it works let you know thanks again.
