9 or 11 inch coil

Bigtwin

New member
I've been holding off on buying the Deus due to the V4 update coming and new coil. If I were to buy now, should I buy the 11 inch coil vs the 9 or should I wait till V4 and new coil is released?

I would say the 9in---I have both 9 & 11----The 11 gives 2 or 3 inch more at best. The V4 program they now say is late summar, but did,t say this year or 2017-----Buy one now

I have the 9 inch. I detect some cut corn fields on occasion and the 9 inch has been very manueverable in the stubble. I have pulled Indians from 10 inches in good soil and even got one half dime at an honest 10 inches. Still though, thinking about the 11 inch. Can't go wrong with a 9 inch, toss up? Weight is within a few ounces of each other from what I understand. Really depends on the types of areas your hunting will concentrate on.

I'd wait . There's no telling how many other operational nuances will be changed when the V4 update comes out. Not only might you buy a coil which you find yourself updating to the new one for gigantic costs after the update , but you might also spend months learning the operation of a Deus with one set of parameters only to have to relearn the nuances of running after the software changes. I would suggest investing in a detector that you can successfully learn and use now and use the proceeds to help purchase the upgraded Deus if and when it finally comes out.

XP is considerate to their programming. They would loose a ton of customers if they change everything so their original coils aren't compatible with the up and coming update. I stand nothing to gain supporting XP. I like my 11". A friend and I set up a 9" against the 11" and we found the 11" out performed the smaller coil. Now when it comes to trashy sites. It has and always will be smaller is better due to less coil overlap. Man if you want one but one and rock it. If you decide you don't like it they have great resale value.

No point in waiting! Get it and start enjoying it now. I love the 11 inch coil. I use the 9 inch in tight quarters, like the cornfield mentioned above. The 11 is great on turned fields. I hit an Indian head in a rough field last weekend at 8 or nine inches. Pretty sure it was on edge because the first signal was just a peep. Went back over it, slowed down and got a solid Indian VDI. I have been through one upgrade and it is not a scary thing. They take a while because Deus is doing their homework. When it is here and you get it downloaded it will make your Deus even better.

thanks guys for the replies and input...I ordered the Deus with an 11 inch coil...should arrive in a few days and I'll hit the Chisholm trail a mile away and other sites to break it in.

I had a tough time deciding also, but went with the 11". I based the desicion on the new coil coming out. I felt that I would never use the 9" once I got the new elliptical, but would gravitate to the larger coil as my go-to for open areas. Now I just gotta wait for the new tech......

I was out looking for coins today and got a hit of 94...dug down 13 inches to find some small pieces of sheet metal...I like the 11 inch.
